The Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Economist on a contract until June 2020, based in their Brisbane office.

The Economist role exists to identify, assess and enhance value opportunities across the Integrated Gas (IG) portfolio and provide key information and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

* Building models that consider multiple complex outcomes with simple interfaces for decision makers
* Frame, run and present potentially complex economics to support strategy and business initiatives
* Working collaboratively to analyse, evaluate and optimise asset opportunities to allow value based investment and capital criteria decision making
* Provide economic and financial information, analysis and insights to assist decision making and maintenance of all necessary relationships to ensure business success (JV, Leadership Teams, Corporate, Service providers, & communities)
* Support new venture resource opportunities including merger, divestiture, and acquisition opportunities
* Proactively pursue sources of data and insight needed to complete analysis and ensure pace of progress and quality of analysis are maintained
* Engage with stakeholders across the Company and the third party stakeholders

The Company:
Our client is one of Australia's largest exploration and production companies and a key energy provider in both the domestic and international marketplace. They have significant interests in offshore exploration, coal seam gas and renewable energy with a major commitment to safety, quality, and environmental issues.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

* Experience in upstream oil and gas with a deep understanding of macroeconomic drivers in Australia and globally
* Bachelor / Masters Degree in Finance / Economics / Engineering
* A demonstrated ability to drive solutions and ensure delivery of complex economic decisions
* A strong understanding of all aspects of the oil and gas value chain from exploration, and appraisal through to development and operations
* Strong business acumen with "big picture" mindset for strategy evaluation / delivering executive level insights, whilst also being across detailed technical analysis and insights
* Experience in strategic management and planning in an operating asset environment
* Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations at all levels
