The Role:
Responsible for a number of commodities for all Projects within Waste Management, Decommissioning and Defence. Determine the sourcing strategies and identify opportunities to gain leverage in the market place for the assigned commodities. This position is the leader and knowledge expert for the assigned commodities in their remit. Identify, evaluate and recommend suppliers, manage supplier relationships and the supply base for their commodities.
Management of budgets within each Project for the relevant commodities. Key member of the integrated project teams, updating project plans with Procurement inputs, working closely with the Project team to ensure successful project delivery. Identify value for money opportunities, negotiate costs and terms and conditions with suppliers and manage through contract lifecycle. Must represent the Procurement Department in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

Key Activities / Decision Areas
* Identify critical/safety related long lead items, determine and ensure sufficient early supplier engagement to minimise downstream risks and recommend appropriate sub-contracting strategy where appropriate
* Support strategic purchasing plans, ensuring supplier expectations are clearly defined and suppliers are committed to achieving goals and objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost Competitiveness (total acquisition cost) and Delivery
* Work in a team environment with the Supply Chain Development/Quality Department in identifying new suppliers to ensure best value for money for all commodities
* Manage supplier relationships to encourage collaborative partnerships
* Negotiate with suppliers in respect of costs, discounts and terms and conditions
* Raise purchase orders and expedite to ensure on time in full delivery
* Monitor and review the trending of TQ's/Quality Documentation on a weekly basis to verify close out of queries/documentation requirements to and from the supply chain and report to Procurement Lead
* Identify and realise areas for cost downs to budget and lead time
* Accurate placement of PO's with associated flow downs terms
* Conduct market analysis and liaise with Supplier Management for new supplier introduction
* Creating reports for each project team for forecasting cost to budget and programme updates

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience
* Minimum of 5 years in a purchasing position. Must be IT Literate
* Excellent negotiation skills
* Preferably worked in an Engineering environment
* Strong communication skills both oral and written
* Diplomatic communication skills when interacting with various departments
* An understanding of Engineering Drawings
* Ability to liaise and co-operate with other departments
