The Role:
We currently have a vacancy for a Head of Unit - Analysis. Managing a team of Engineers, this is an excellent opportunity for an effective team player with the relevant skills to further their career.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is accountable for the technical discipline, the quality, integrity, capability, competency and performance of the Analysis team and its deliverables. Working closely with the Engineering leadership and technical teams it is pivotal to the effective delivery of technical excellence.

Other duties will involve:-

Being the company expert and point of contact for multiple projects across the business by advising on all aspects of Analysis throughout the product lifecycle. Alongside this the role holder is the Analysis authority and signatory for estimates, tenders and bids and is accountable and responsible for the delivery of analysis and substantiation.

Key responsibilities will include;

*Managing unit resources, their development and their training to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements at all times
*Responsibility for the quality of the Analysis output, always in adherence to standards and legislation
*Inputting to procedures and standards which are the most applicable to the development of all designs
*Checking and approving the scope readiness for each process stage
*Accepting and approving the engineered analytical solution, mitigating the safety case requirements, and chairing safety compliance reviews
*Identifying Client's requirements, scope of works and costs relevant to his/her disciplines both for bids and contract execution and supporting the Project Engineer in technical discussion with Clients
*Applying company procedures for Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems and Organizational Models
*Leading by example to establish a culture, a work ethic and behaviours appropriate for a world class technical unit

Other keys tasks associated with success in this challenging new role will involve; continuous improvement initiatives on a day-by-day basis relevant to the technical discipline(s) of the Unit. If necessary, acquiring new knowledge/updates and technical Know-How to ensure continuous development for his/her unit. Maintaining safety, discipline and control of allocated staff and contractors in accordance with HR Guidelines.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Person - An excellent team player, with effective communications skills to interact with key internal and external customers and team members alike, the Head of Unit for Analysis will be proficient in:

*Engineering Design
*Always ensuring meticulous attention to detail
*Striving to provide fit for purpose engineering solutions
*Managing, motivating and co-ordinating a delivery team of Designers
*Maintaining an understanding of the latest Engineering Technologies and innovations

Technical Skills Required - Preference will be given to applicants with previous relevant experience in a similar role in the nuclear sector. Applicants must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree (or Equivalent), typically with a post-graduate qualification as well (MSc, MEng, PhD). A minimum of 10 years continuous and relevant experience as technical authority / signatory will be favourable and applicants must be a UK Passport holder as the role will require SC clearance.
