The Role:
Our client is currently looking to recruit a Head of Unit - Analysis (Stress) to be based from their head office in Wolverhampton.

As the Head of Unit you will report directly into the Engineering Manager and closely with the Engineering leadership and technical teams it is pivotal to the effective delivery of technical excellence. As the Unit Head, you will be responsible for and also along with the management of a team of stress engineers, whom you all will be accountable for the technical discipline, the quality, integrity, capability, competency and performance of the stress analysis team and its deliverables.

Other duties will involve:-
Being the subject matter expert and point of contact for multiple projects across the business by advising on all aspects of Analysis throughout the product lifecycle. Alongside this the role holder is the analysis authority and signatory for estimates, tenders and bids and is accountable and responsible for the delivery of analysis and substantiation.

Key responsibilities will include;
o Managing unit resources, their development and their training to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements at all times
o Responsibility for the quality of the Analysis output, always in adherence to standards and legislation
o Inputting to procedures and standards which are the most applicable to the development of all designs
o Checking and approving the scope readiness for each process stage
o Accepting and approving the engineered analytical solution, mitigating the safety case requirements, and chairing safety compliance reviews
o Identifying Client's requirements, scope of works and costs relevant to his/her disciplines both for bids and contract execution and supporting the Project Engineer in technical discussion with Clients
o Applying company procedures for Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems and Organisational Models
o Leading by example to establish a culture, a work ethic and behaviours appropriate for a world class technical unit

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You will need to be an excellent team player, with effective communications skills to interact with key internal and external customers and team members alike.
As the Head of Unit for Analysis will be proficient in:
o Engineering Design
o Always ensuring meticulous attention to detail
o Striving to provide fit for purpose engineering solutions
o Managing, motivating and co-ordinating a delivery team of Designers
o Maintaining an understanding of the latest Engineering Technologies and innovations

Applicants must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree (or Equivalent), typically with a post-graduate qualification as well (MSc, MEng, PhD).
Continuous and relevant experience as technical authority / signatory will be favourable and applicants must be a UK Passport holder as the role will require SC clearance.

Being a specialist in one or more of the following areas is a must :-
o Nuclear Decommissioning / New Build / Plant Life Extension
o Remote Handling Equipment
o Lift

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Being a Member of IMechE as Chartered Engineer is preferred.
