The Role:
The role will be based 80% in the Midlands office, 20% based across 2 UK sites.
£45k basic salary plus circa 25% uplift for being on site. Site based 1 week at a time.

Role Purpose
* Responsible to the Principal or Responsible Engineer for the delivery of Mechanical Design packages, dependent on the size / complexity of the work scope.
* Delivery of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the Design Input Requirements.
* Capable of leading a team of Design Engineers to deliver the appropriate solution from Front End Engineering to Detailed Design production to budget and schedule.
* Provide Engineering Support to manufacture right through to client handover.
* Provide a technical support at client sites during maintenance and refurbishment activities on equipment previously supplied.
* Capable of leading a small team of Mechanical Fitters at client site to deliver a defined scope to budget and schedule.
* Capable of representing the company as the client point of contact at their site, to provide client with regular information on progress and to identify areas of change to scope.
* Manage the supply of small spares orders from receipt of enquiry to delivery of goods and invoicing.

Key Activities / Decision Areas
* Interpretation of Design Input Requirements, in support of the Principal / Responsible Engineers to deliver fit for purpose solutions.
* Compilation of Design Control Files (design evolution records)
* Production and verification of fit for purpose calculations where required
* Delivery in accordance with allocated budgeted cost and timescales
* Day to day management of the Engineering design team (circa 5+ personnel)
* Supervision, verification and production of design deliverable outputs
* Checking of design outputs
* Design co-ordination with other engineering disciplines
* Implementation of UK and European H&S legislation and appropriate design standards
* Adherence to all relevant company policies and procedures
* Incorporation of external specialist engineering design information
* Identification and inclusion of bought out plant and equipment
* Presentation and/or participation at HAZOP, Design Reviews and Risk Assessments
* Liaison with Procurement, Manufacturing, Testing and Commissioning personnel to ensure design optimisation
* Incorporating the requirements of the Operating, Maintenance, Safety Mechanisms and Recovery features within the design.
* Implementation of Design Change Control
* Analysis of inspection data and compilation of technical reports to provide the client with the information they require to make equipment refurbishment scope decisions.
* Monitor equipment maintenance and refurbishment to ensure original build standards are maintained.

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience
* HNC Qualified (or Equivalent)
* Extensive Engineering Workplace Experience
* Nuclear Industry Experience preferred
* Management of Design teams
* Broad based experience in the Detailed Design of Mechanical Equipment
* Experienced in 2D and 3D design software packages
* Conversant with British and European Technical and Legislative standards
