The Role:
An excellent opportunity awaits an experienced Stress Engineer
You will undertake a variety of analysis tasks associated with the design, test, and installation of high integrity mechanical plant and systems.

You will be preparing calculations, reports, tender proposals and estimates, recommendations for approval within defined time, cost and quality standards set by the company.

Key Activities of the Stress Engineer/FEA Engineer are:-
To carry out defined calculations to determine the acceptability of a structural or mechanical component to a specified code/standard.
Present calculations and results in a manner suitable for auditing and approval Review FEA results
Undertake analysis tasks, particularly the design and analysis of mechanisms and structure
Lead discussions with internal and external customers and suppliers in order to ensure that programmes are delivered to specification, cost and time
Write and check calculations and FE reports.
Establish the detailed requirements of analysis assignments and formulate day to day plans to meet the objectives and timescales set by the supervisor.
Undertaking analysis tasks, particularly in relation to mechanical plant and systems, as required using appropriate calculations and tools, using own knowledge and experience, but recognising the need for consulting other discipline specialists, both internal and external to the engineering department and initiating this action through the supervisor.
Undertaking a validation/verification of calculations and designs, in accordance with company procedures.
Specify works to be carried out by other areas or organisations, as authorised by supervisor.
Operating as part of a multi-disciplined design team as tasks demand.
When sub-contractors are involved, consult with them in detailed technical terms at the discretion of the supervisor.
Write reports, proposals or recommendations for checking and approval by supervisor, and may support the supervisor in any technical discussion with outside bodies or customers.
Maintaining adequate records for all completed work to satisfy company and national quality and legal requirements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Must be a UK Passport holder as security clearance will need to be attained
Calculations prepared electronically therefore a good working knowledge of MathCad and Ansys is essential
Proficient in the use of ANSYS Classic or Workbench
Engineering degree, preferably Mechanical Engineering (would consider Structural Engineering)
Minimum of 6 to 7 years continuous and relevant experience since graduation
Nuclear industry experience
Design and analysis experience of mechanical mechanisms and structures
Working knowledge and experience of Eurocode 3
Working knowledge and experience of Crane Codes
Working knowledge of ASME 3 or 8
Finite element analysis
Classical stress analysis
Broad experience comprising static, dynamic (vibration, modal, seismic) and non-linear analysis
Good understanding of strength of engineering materials

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally conversant with 3D CAD software, Pro-Engineer or AutoCAD / Inventor
