The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of all manufacturing operations. You will ensure all employees are delivering work safely and according to the company policies, procedures and standards. You will ensure that the working environment remains safe for all employees whilst maximising utilisation of the workforce and the efficiency of all manufacturing operations. The main objective of the Production Supervisor is to deliver the weekly production plan safely, right first time, on time and in line with the allocated budgets.

You will manage, support and develop the cell leaders (manufacturing sector (weld shop, mechanical engineering shop)), setting out clear performance expectations for their areas of responsibility.

Key Activities / Areas:
* Enforces strict adherence to company EHS rules and promotes strong EHS behaviours in all shop floor personnel
* Manages and maintains SQEP processes across all manufacturing personnel
* Enforces company policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis
* Develops and implements a culture of continuous and sustained improvement.
* Proactive problem solver in area of control and also supports the overall manufacturing management team
* Takes accountability for communication and delivery of the weekly production plan
* Manages and communicates changes to shift patterns and shift arrangements
* Organises daily meetings with cell leaders to review previous day's performance and clearly communicates the daily plan
* Conducts daily cell board reviews to ensure robust and efficient cell management
* Communicates performance expectations to all cell leaders, evaluating and appraising performance in line with SMARTER objectives
* Accountable for maintaining utilisation of the workforce within target levels
* Responsible for the management of the manufacturing maintenance schedule and budget so that plant, machines and equipment are enabling efficient production through preventative maintenance programmes
* Responsible for tooling and consumables expenditures in line with allocated budgets
* Addresses production problems as they arise, making decisions to keep plans on track
* Supports cell leaders to promote 5S standards within their areas
* Supports capital expenditure proposals and accountable for delivery of new capital asset projects
* Supports the recruitment process to identity and bring in new people into the business
* Takes responsibility for apprenticeship programme including progression of apprentices through training and development plans
* Manages performance issues with manufacturing personnel

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Minimum 15 to 20 years experience in a bespoke high integrity manufacturing environment
* Welding and Mechanical Engineering workshop knowledge
* Ideally working in a heavy engineering or bespoke engineering workshop previously, highly desirable
* Managed staff - Supervisors / Team Leaders / Welders and Mechanical Engineers
* HND in Manufacturing / Engineering highly desirable
* Proven EHS leadership essential with IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications highly desirable
* Experience managing teams at supervisory level essential
* Knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, inspection and assembly operations essential
* Knowledge and appreciation of commercial principles highly desirable
