The Role:
Our client is one of the world's leading energy companies, with approximately 60,000 employees working in countries around the world. We explore, produce and transport crude oil and natural gas; refine, market and distribute fuels and other energy products; manufacture and sell petrochemical products; generate power; and develop future energy resources, including biofuels and geothermal energy.

Job Responsibilities:
OASIS (Optimization of Automated Safety Instrumented System) Project modifies existing and installs new safety instrumented systems in all process units located in the Company operated refineries (El Segundo, Pascagoula, Richmond, Salt Lake City). The intent of the project is to bring all Safety Instrumented Functions into compliance with the ISA84 Standard. Implementation will coincide with planned plant turnarounds.

* The Instrument & Control Engineer works as a member of the Owner's SIS/ICE (Safety Instrumented System / Instrument Controls and Electrical) Engineering team and as part of a multi-functional team.
* Will work with the Our client project team and contractors to provide instrument discipline support for developing the initial scoping, planning, FEED, and detailed engineering of the OASIS projects.
* Will provide engineering QA/QC support, including attending FAT activities at vendor locations.
* Will interface with site teams to plan construction and commissioning activities and to provide commissioning support as required.
* Provides instrument design expertise for design and selection of equipment. Reviews design documents and supports preparation of purchase documents for instrument equipment packages such as transmitters, valves, etc.
* Supports instrumentation and control systems construction and commissioning planning.

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering in either Electrical or Chemical Engineering
* Downstream petroleum refining project experience, including knowledge of refinery processes, technologies, designs, and operation
* 10+ years' experience as an instrument engineer on capital projects, preferably including conceptual design, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) development, detailed design and construction phases.
* Experience in coordinating parallel planning, scheduling and cost tracking of project activities.
* Demonstrated understanding and experience in Instrumentation and Control Systems installation, commissioning, operation, and/or startup in Manufacturing facilities, including the ability to be detail-oriented in multiple areas
* Provides instrument design expertise for design and selection of equipment. Reviews design documents and supports preparation of purchase documents for instrument equipment packages such as transmitters, valves, Analyzers etc. Supports instrumentation and control systems construction and commissioning planning.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems is desirable but not required
* Previous work experience reviewing instrument datasheets, instrument index, and loop wiring diagrams, created with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
* Previous Our client experience

Notes from Manager:
* Long term contract
* There will be approximately 20% travel to Our client owned in country facilities
* Work schedule- 9/80 schedule
* He/she will support the Richmond, Salt Lake City, Pascagoula, and El Segundo refineries
