The Role:
Responsibilities: Executes projects in support of all the company business units worldwide. The candidate will work in the Drilling & Completions group, and will be dedicated to a high-profile project for a specific company business unit. This project involves developing new drilling techniques, developing associated equipment with suppliers, writing operational procedures, and deployment of equipment and procedures in the business unit. The work will involve a combination of technical and operational aspects. The engineer will work under a Sr. Drilling Engineer who manages this project.
Skills: Overall the candidate must have an interest in technology development and deployment, have a strong technical drilling engineering background, and experience in developing and deploying drilling equipment. Candidate must have good communication skills and able to work in a project oriented culture. Good spoken and excellent written English is required. Detailed qualification requirements are provided below.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Master's in a related engineering field. - 20+ years of experience
Travel requirements: Work is based in downtown Houston. If necessary, must be willing and available to travel within the U.S. or internationally on short trips (1-2 weeks).
Specific qualifications:
- Minimum 20 years of D&C experience, including land wells, and wells requiring 15k equipment
- Significant experience with Integrated Oil Company (IOC)
- Significant operational D&C experience (rig based, or running D&C operation from office)
- Strong technical skills - knowledge of D&C tools/equipment, and well design
- Experience in drilling equipment development, qualification and deployment (for example RCD's, pumping skids, etc)
- Experience generating operational and contingency plans on non-routine operations.
- Able to perform risk assessments on operational and contingency plans
- Experience in the following areas is a plus:
o Experience on high-H2S wells
o Foam or underbalanced drilling experience
o Snubbing operations
