The Role:
Position Description:
"The Connected Technologies and Apps department in JLR is looking for a developer to design, develop and maintain a bespoke HTML5 apps operational framework in a secure environment on the vehicle. This framework operates as a standalone system in the vehicle infotainment unit, communicates with both on-board and off-board systems and supports a variety of embedded HTML5 apps. The team is growing to enhance the framework with new features and roll-out to new markets. The role will include the following tasks: Working directly with development partners and internal product managers to develop and maintain framework. Requirements capture and creation of formal specifications. Manage prototype development and associated technical validation. Work with the app developers to build the interface with focus on robustness and performance. Optimise performance of the framework This is a technical development role, but not a software coding position."

3 KEY SKILLS:
1.) Development using web technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, REST, JSON, XML
2.) Software development throughout the lifecycle from requirements through design validation
3.) Good understanding of programming and design patterns

Experience Required:
2-3 years' experience in Web/App development. Commercial software development experience. Browser, webkit and web server. Ability to use analytic data and user testing to inform design decision. Ability to multi task and good time management skills. Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various departments, locally and internationally. Degree in Computer science or related Electrical/Electronic Engineering subjects or equivalent.

Experience Preferred:
Excellent knowledge in information architecture, data management and UI. A track record of delivering successful consumer and or business products. A passion for new consumer technology and the emerging automotive app landscape. Ability to explain technologies and solutions to non-technical stakeholders. Passion for creating global product accommodating cultural differences.
