The Role:
Position Description:

The Solidity team is an attribute group within the Vehicle NVH Department. It has the responsibility for delivering the vehicle free from any annoying noise with correct operational sound quality (OSQ) and solidity across all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. We cover all aspects of operational sound quality from component through system and to vehicle level. The team are involved from the early concept development phases through to when the vehicle is handed over to manufacturing. We use a range of measurement and development techniques including virtual design reviews with CAE support and physical testing at vehicle level in quiet chambers.

We are looking for a senior engineer to join us in the virtual and physical development of the attribute. You'll be part of the OSQ team working across all programmes to deliver the attribute to the required level for the customer. You will also be working to develop new techniques and improve the process for delivery. This includes developing effective relationships with the design engineering teams and our suppliers to ensure that our capabilities remain cutting edge.

3 key skills

1.) NVH data acquisition and analysis.
2.) Engineering project management.
3.) Vehicle test experience.

Experience Required:

A real interest and understanding of vehicle NVH and measurement and analysis techniques. An appreciation of the importance of OSQ in the overall refinement of a passenger vehicle. Experience and understanding of reviewing design geometry in CAD. A degree in Mechanical Engineering /Electrical or related subject to either undergraduate or postgraduate level. Able to pass JLR medical for climatic testing and high speed test track driving, experience in driving all types of vehicles. Able to work at all JLR sites in UK and happy to travel to overseas sites as required. Ability to support product owners to develop features and systems which need to comply with NVH and Sound quality requirements.

Experience Preferred:

A keenness to investigate problems and a desire to develop innovative solutions. The ability to handle and present often complex data clearly and make recommendations to diverse audiences, from members of the team inside the department, to engineers in other departments and to senior management. An ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment on both vehicle and research projects. An ability to lead the team and help them to develop. Good hearing capability.

Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
