The Role:
Responsible for the telecommunication system design and engineering of fibre optic and copper networks, Substation Telecom, Protection & Control Systems
Designs to be in line with client specifications and global industry standards
Responsible for the creation of telecommunication system architectures, network design cable schedules and connection drawings
Responsible for the specification of network communications hardware and the creation of project specific bill of materials (BOM)
Responsible for the creation of all project documentation related to the design, engineering and testing of telecommunication network designs (e.g. Function Design Specification & Factory Acceptance Test Specification)
Responsible for the preparation of device configurations and testing of the overall telecommunication system solution, against approved designs.
Provide technical support of telecommunication systems and products to sales and tendering functions as required
To proactively engage with customer stakeholders on behalf of the PGGA Control & Communication Team.
To actively participate in both design reviews and lessons learnt processes
Perform on site commissioning activities related to ongoing and future projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Preferred Communication engineering related education or the equivalent (HNC minimum qualification).
Minimum 2 years in a project delivery environment
Minimum 2 years experience in design configuration & test of routing & switching systems
Basic understanding of IP security protocols
Good working knowledge of fibre optic types, connections and the ability to calculate optical budgets
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word & Visio

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant CISCO Product Certifications (CCNA, Routing & Switching)
Experience with ABB and other Tele-Communications Products.
Experience within the Electricity Supply and Railways Industries.
Membership of relevant professional body eg. IET
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD / E3 or other industry standard drawing package.
