The Role:
* Reports to the Operations Support Team Lead
* Provide field execution leadership to drive the safe, productive and cost effective management of all project related field execution activities at the site level, which may include multiple projects and/or locations.
* Provide oversight to Contractors, including work pack development and planning, to drive efficient field execution, cost reduction, optimal schedules and safe delivery of all work activities (with special focus on higher risk work such as critical lifts, confined space entries and all Tier 1 Best Practices).
* Participate in Constructability and Facility Design / Model reviews with the project team and Detailed Engineering Contractors
* Participate in Contractor kick-off meetings to understand and support execution scope, provide input into the Contractor's execution plan and to support detailed, site level planning for critical path field activities.
* Provide a strong safety leadership presence to maintain a consistent focus on the LPS Program through visible (minimum 90%) field presence, attendance at contractor safety meetings, Toolbox talks, LPSA validations, JLA development and quality reviews, LPO participation and Factors, Root Causes and Solutions (FRCS). Support all loss and near loss investigations. Ensure compliance with all safe work permits and approved safe work procedures, including Tier 1 Best Practices. Work with assigned Safety Representatives and site Operations to safely and efficiently achieve all project objectives set out in the Project Execution and Project Safety Plans.
* Develop, promote and achieve a positive and productive team atmosphere between Projects, Operations and Contractors to establish and align on common priorities, goals and objectives.
* Comply with all business controls, including time sheet endorsements and materials management.
* Keep all personal training (WebCAT or other requirements) and required certifications current.
* Maintain a daily activities project log documenting key day-to-day activities, issues and resolution decisions made in the field.
* Provide early identification of emerging issues to supervisor, including options and resolution recommendations.
* Work with Contractors to deliver all critical path activities on schedule, as per the approved Project Execution Plan.
* Monitor key LPS activities or events, construction progress and productivity, ensuring any variances to the resource loaded Contractor's schedule is immediately identified.
* This role requires frequent travel to multiple locations across Canada for extended durations, including periodic weekend stay-overs.

The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Proven ability to plan work in detail, including the development of work packs to safe construction practices
* Strong safety culture as demonstrated through past safe work experiences
* Experience in successfully applying injury case management and related notification protocols
* Minimum 10 years trade experience at a journeyman level
* Demonstrated field supervisory oversight over 5-25 person crews, from planning and start of construction through to commissioning and start-up
* Experience with all aspects of mechanical work, including: pipe fabrication, testing and installation, 3rd party inspection, rotating equipment installation, vessels and strainers
* Experience with structural steel and supports, concrete foundations, civil earthwork, screw piles, crane operation, (electrical and instrumentation is an asset)
* Working knowledge of: opening process equipment, cranes and lifting, confined space entry, working at heights, safe electrical work and energy isolation

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience with API653 tank maintenance, inspection and repairs is an asset
* Experience with pipeline Horizontal Directional Drilling is an asset
* Strong communications skills, predominantly in English (French is an asset)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
