Our client, a major owner/operating company, is seeking an expereinced Safety Advisor for the Cold Lake unconvention oil operations. Client is seeking local residents (Cold Lake/Bonnyville and surounding areas) only as this is a Monday - Friday postion. No camp or rotation.

The Role:
As a Safety Advisor, you will work within the Operations Integrity - Safety team, supporting the Cold Lake and Conventional Operations and Maintenance teams. The role is based on-site within the Cold Lake Field location, which provides support to Cold Lake, Norman Wells, and other conventional oil and gas assets in Central Alberta and Western Canada. The Safety team is responsible for ensuring that a high level of focus on safety is maintained throughout the company's field assets, to achieve our vision of 'Nobody Gets Hurt'. This group is comprised of professional safety advisors, some of whom have obtained Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, who will be available to provide direct mentoring and work direction.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Approximately 50% or more of your time will be in the field working with Operations, Maintenance and Contractor teams, providing support, direction and mentoring to site-based 'safety leaders' in order to maintain a strong safety culture
* The role may involve travel and support for all assets, including Norman Wells and central Alberta field areas
* Providing guidance and coaching to workers on the company's safety standards, processes, tools, behaviours and implementation of Corporate Safety Initiatives aimed at maintaining a strong safety culture
* Providing direction and recommendations to managers and front line supervisors on approaches to safety, setting of safety goals and implementation of specific remedial actions in their areas of responsibilities, along with recommendations from analysis of proactive reports
* Implementing standard tools and processes, and ensuring consistent application of the comapny's corporate Safety Management System
* Assessing and attesting contractor safety programs; ensuring safety specifications are understood and implemented
* Participating or leading formal investigations of incidents and significant near misses
* Providing emergency response support, as required
* Providing instruction and training on safety concepts, practices, and standards

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

ACADEMIC:
Technical programs such as B.Sc. in Occupational Health & Safety, or a diploma program in Occupational Health & Safety, or a B.Sc. in an Engineering program with a strong safety component.

OTHER:
* Safety related work experience and exposure to the oil and gas industry
* Self-motivation with strong interpersonal and team work skills
* Strong oral communication skills
* Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve
* Valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required for this position
