The Role:

Opportunity:
Exciting opportunity to join a global leader in energy technology with excellent opportunities for progression. The HSE Advisor will be based on their manufacturing site in Coleshill. 36.5 hours/week and early finish on a Friday.

Scope:
Coaching and mentoring senior management and employees on all aspects of health, safety and environmental matters. Working closely with on-site Managers to develop a good working relationship. Offering hands-on guidance, instruction and practical solutions where required thus ensuring ownership of Health & Safety/Environmental matters at all levels. Reducing the business risks to the company arising from breaches of health, safety and environmental legislation, by monitoring and implementing new and current legal requirements affecting the company.

Responsibilities:
* Planning safe working practices and making necessary changes and drawing-up safe systems of work procedures.
* Making recommendations following accidents/incidents and deploying corrective actions
* Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health compiling statistics
* Providing health and safety training courses for employees, team leaders and managers
* Assessing new equipment and machinery for safety, prior to installation and commission and ensuring that the said equipment is installed correctly/safely
* Writing internal EHS policies/strategies to ensure compliance to ISO14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety)
* Undertaking / reviewing risk assessments with the team leaders.
* Identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks.
* Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current Environmental health and safety legislation..
* Writing reports, bulletins and newsletters.
* Liaising with relevant authorities, acting as the official point of contact for official bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and the Environment Agency
* Organising/attending health and safety meetings, publishing the resulting minutes
* Advising on, and ensuring the safe handling of hazardous substances on site
* Making regular site inspections and environmental audits
* Keeping up to date with developments within the profession
* Making presentations to groups of employees/managers.
* Developing / coaching team leaders into their role.
* Review site security procedures with facilities manager.
* Work place transport safety arrangements.
* Organise safety audits, tours and inspections
* Carry out HS&E induction on all new employees
* Maintain the asbestos register, monitoring the condition of asbestos containing materials and sampling when necessary

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* NEBOSH Diploma in Health &Safety or equivalent
* Experience working within a manufacturing environment
* Qualification, knowledge and experience in implementation of ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 management system
* Proficient in Microsoft Office package.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Lead EHS Auditor qualification and experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office package.
* Member of IOSH
* Diploma level qualification in Environmental Management.
