The Role:
As Head of Engineering, you will be tasked with leading and developing a multi-disciplined team of engineers across a variety of tasks from quotation through to completion. This will involve both the strategic decision making, leadership and management of the team while consistently ensuring the safety, integrity and financial feasibility of substation engineering projects across the business unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following areas:

* Leading a cross-functional engineering team based across multiple locations.
* Development engineering strategy and policy for Substation Engineering
* Act as the Technical specialist and interface between the UK Engineering teams and facilitating collaboration with internal departments to ensure project delivery and innovation.
* Supporting Senior Management in the strategic and operational decision to consistently develop the future capabilities of the business in current and emerging markets.
* Provide management, leadership and coordination across the Substation Engineering function to drive and increase engineering excellence across the UK..
* Interface with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders to offer technical expertise in development of technical specifications and standards.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in the delivery of complex multi-disciplined projects incorporating both engineering and construction principles. This will be coupled with a strong ability to lead, delegate and manage engineering resource effectively across a multitude of projects.

This will also include the following:

* Degree or HND in Engineering related discipline.
* Although not essential, Chartered status would be advantageous.
* Strong technical and commercial acumen with experience within a matrix organisation.
* Experience of technical leadership within electrical, mechanical or construction related projects.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven track-record of developing engineering teams and resource.
