The Role:
As a Protection Systems Engineer, you will produce detailed engineering designs for low, medium and high voltage protection systems for a wide variety of applications across the renewable energy & transmission and distribution industries.

This is an extremely varied position where you will support projects from concept design through to installation and commissioning, with product applications across wind, transmission & distribution, utilities and industrial markets. Alongside liaising directly with customers to continually support the development of new products, systems and protection technologies.

You will also be responsible for the following:

* Development of new protection solution and full development cycle control (concept design to delivery) and preparation of protection designs for production and manufacturing.
* Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stage, installation and commissioning activities.
* Preparing proposals and supporting commercial and technical presentations of engineering projects/programs, working closely with tendering and sales teams throughout.
* Assist customers on technical issues, interacts with official contacts, contractors and other staff within projects to ensure scope of deliverables.
* To suggest improvements to drive the development and optimization of processes to reduce the target costs for the Protection Engineering team.
* To provide regular project updates, attend technical review meetings and report progress to the project and line management

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate, will have the following

* Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering discipline.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience within the Electrical Industry and knowledge of Protection Relays, Protection Systems & Power System Protection.
* Strong design capability and experience in the engineering discipline of Power System Protection.
* Strong coordination and team work skills with the ability to communicate to both colleagues and customers.
* Understanding of UK electricity industry standards especially National Grid, SSE/SPEN, DNO standards and type registration / product approval process
