The Role:
The role is a site based Senior Quantity Surveyor to support on a recent £700m project win connecting the UK's grid to the world's largest wind farm. Working primarily across bespoke contract forms, you will be leading all QS activities liaising between site, client and office based parties. On a permanent basis, this this is a fantastic opportunity to work for a business employing over 140,000 people that's renowned for its training, development and cutting edge projects. So, what will you be responsible for?
* Responsible for leading all contract and risk management activities ensuring these are managed in accordance with the relevant directives and instructions
* Ensure coaching of the Project Management Office (PMO) core team to ensure understanding of the contract, highlighting risks during the execution of the contract.
* Act as the contractual partner towards the customer and ensure adequate execution of the scheduling of the contracts.
* Coordination and interfacing with all factories in the management of change, contractual issues and risk mitigations including setting up of mitigation actions.
* Support the Head of PMO to prepare all contractual communication and in coordination of factory communication ensure compliance to the contractual requirements
* Ensures the PMO, factories and other stakeholders in the business follow contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with applicable procedures.
* Develops contract strategy based on policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy taking into account risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
* Identifies the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of opportunities and potential risk.
* Ensures timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts / subcontracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.).
* Establishes and enforces standard methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify, notify, enforce or defend changes / claims (passive/active) coming from / towards third parties.
* In concert with Legal, develops the negotiation strategy and supports negotiations. Supports Legal in handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration proceedings
* Supports drafting of Contracts, Subcontracts and Supply Contracts and ensures that relevant (supply / sub) contracts contain appropriate contract terms to protect interest including flow-down of main contract terms.
* Analyzes contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk.
* Seeks advice from Legal to draft, negotiate and finalize agreements during the Sales and Project Execution phases.
* Ensures insurance provisions within the contract are adhered to and coordinates with Insurance Risk Management regarding occurrences that may be covered by customer / third party or provided insurance. Supports Insurance Risk Management in producing damage reports.
* Seeks advice from Legal (Export Control) to ensure accurate handling of all export control matters with regard to restrictions on exports, applicable destination laws considering countries, customers or products involved and the respective laws and regulations.

Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* A Masters and or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
* 5+ years or more experience in EPC power generation, substations, converter stations, Transmission and Distribution or similar industrial plant Contract Management and Subcontract Management functions (with emphasis on civil and electrical installations desired), processes and management/administration of varying sizes and types of contractual agreements.
* Comprehensive knowledge in Contract Management of various forms of Contract (e.g. FIDIC, NEC3 and Bespoke Contracts)
* Solid experience in change management, claim management and contract-related legal issues and the possible effects in the relevant areas of responsibility regarding proposal stage and/or project execution.
* Ability to interface with customers and subcontractors in regards to all matters related to contracts and projects including those related to the review and process of changes.
