The Role:
A global leader in HVDC technology are looking a Service Project Manager to support on a new contract win. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading the execution of Service projects to ensure all activities are preformed within policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.

Based primarily on-site, with occasional travel to Staffordshire and various customer sites throughout the UK, this is a fantastic opportunity to work for a business employing over 140,000 people that's renowned for its training, development and cutting edge projects; most notably within HVDC, holding 70% of all VSC links internationally.
So what are your main accountabilities?

1. Project leadership
Leads the project team allocated to the project, defining main guidelines, allocating project tasks, and motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Provides performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects.

2. Planning and scheduling
Defines, jointly with the Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.

3. Project execution and control
Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and ABB Power Grids policies. Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization. Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow. Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Captures, analyses and shares lessons learned throughout the project. Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.

4. Contract claims and procurement management
Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements. Coordinates with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers. Support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes.

5. Stakeholder relations
Acts as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.

6. Health, safety and environment (HSE)
Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* 2+ years of HV/Substation/Power Project Management or Electrical contracting experience.
* On-site Project Management experience is key.
* Excellent organisational and co-ordination skills with the ability to prioritise and manage peaks in workload.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees and customers in a professional manner, both in person and via telephone, and a strong focus on managing customer relationships.
* Good knowledge of Project scheduling, planning, estimation, procurement & cost control.
* Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs
* Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
* Ability to delegate to as well as motivate a team, in executing tasks to deadline

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Undergraduate Engineering degree with 5+ experience in HV power systems
* HVDC experience
* Safety Switching experience
* Power plant Operational experience
