The Role:
Take ownership of facility plant problems and optimization opportunities and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. The Facility Engineer is expected to have a good level of process and mechanical engineering competence and be able to develop Construction Work Packages for simple changes on their own if needed; they are also expected to have solid project management skills and be able to use those skills to manage internal engineering teams and external engineering contractors as needed. Facility Engineers manage projects through execution in the field.

As part of the larger Facilities Engineering team, the Facility Engineer generally moves from one problem or opportunity in the plant to another based on input from the Contact and Staff engineering teams that have more focus on monitoring the condition and performance of particular plant areas. However, in-depth analysis of particular plant problems using historical plant data and direct interaction with operations and maintenance stakeholders is key to success.

Lead Accountabilities:
Health Safety Environment:
* Promote, support and adhere to Client Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system
* Ensure HSE issues are given priority consideration by complying with all corporate and operating procedures to align with corporate safety standards and expectations.
* Actively participate in HSE activities as a CPC Safety Leader by being proactive in hazard ID, reporting of all near misses/incidents, and stop unsafe acts or situations.
* Promote a safe working environment and ensure co-workers fully understand all aspects of the HSE management system in line with their role and responsibilities.
* Incorporate the CPC safety culture into daily activities and duties, and mentor co-workers on HSE expectations.
* Ensure the corporate SPIRIT values and Life Saving Rules are promoted and supported.

Key Accountabilities
* Scope and develop problems/opportunities into plant changes.
* Develop basic process and mechanical deliverables and adhere to the APEGA Professional Management Plan for these deliverables..
* Work with engineering teams to deliver more complex process/mechanical deliverables as well as incorporate instrumentation, electrical, automation, civil, fixed mechanical, rotating mechanical and structural considerations into solutions.
* Manage engineering changes leveraging the MMP and Tier 1 project processes, including scope, schedule, and budget
* Coordinate multidiscipline teams, engineering and construction activities related to engineering changes
* Building Team Culture - Leverage team knowledge and promote knowledge sharing and development within the team.
* Prioritizing and Allocating Work - Understand relative work priorities, delegate work as appropriate, manage competing demands for resources.

Critical Skills:
* Strong interpersonal communication skills, and good written communication skills.
* Emphasis on understanding technical details of problems and independently researching and engaging the right focus area experts to develop the best solution.
* Manages and engages stakeholders. Must have strong team skills to build consensus across organizational lines
* Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitments

Technical Skills:
* Ability to mark-up P&IDs with changes that are safe and include good design practice and required overpressure protection.
* Ability to lead simple hazard assessments for small changes and ability to participate in HAZOP for larger changes.
* Ability to generate simple isometrics and assess support using good engineering practice, knowledge of when quantitative stress analysis is required, ability to select piping materials using line class methods, and determine hydrotest pressures.
* Ability to perform simple hydraulics and line sizing calculations.
* Familiarity with basic pump types and selection and typical considerations including NPSH requirements.
* Understanding of DCS and SIS process control systems, understanding of standard instrumentation and communications methods including 4-20 mA and MODBUS protocalls.
* Understanding of Electrical Heat Trace design including SR and MI as well as motor control practices (VFD and synchronous motor operation).
* Understanding of Alberta Building Code requirements.
* Understanding of Civil and Structural Engineering requirements in changes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
* APEGA Registered Professional Engineer or E.I.T.
* 3+ years' experience preferably in SAGD, Heavy Oil, Conventional Oil & Gas.
* Experience and ability to work within a team-oriented and diverse cultural environment
* Strong written and oral communications skills
