The Role:
Purpose:
* Provide guidance and support to the SAGD operations.
* Analyze specifications and control continuous operation of Plant units and auxiliary equipment.

Accountabilities and End Results:
* Assists Process and Pad Operator as required under normal daily operating conditions and in times where the Process and Pad Operator is unavailable.
* Operates Plant units to record and report temperature, pressure and any abnormal issues in the SAGD Facility according to process conditions.
* Reads and analyzes specifications, schedules, logs, email correspondence and test results to determine changes to equipment controls required to produce specified product.
* Compiles and records operating data, instrument readings, documents, and results of laboratory analyses. Maintains the Shift Log Book including pertinent information to the daily activities, times, personnel, equipment and outstanding issues.
* Completion of Web Based Training Modules assigned relative to position.

Primary Functions:

* Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
* Communicates with the field groups in determining proper inputs and outputs to successfully maintain steady state operations.
* Coordinates Start-ups, Shut-downs, Emergency Control and Upset Conditions to maintain a safe and environmentally sound facility. Other Duties as assigned by Leaders or Operations Foreman
* Operates the units, monitors and adjusts unit controls auxiliary equipment and multiple processing units during processing or treating operations to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions.
* Maintains continuous radio contact with the Control Room and Shift Lead to keep them informed of operating conditions to request adjustments of equipment, to carry out on-site readings and convey/implement instructions given by Shift Lead.
* Maintains communication with maintenance staff regarding daily activities to ensure safe operations in area of responsibility.
* Slop Oil Flash Treatment Package consisting of a dual firetube flash treater and related equipment
* VRU Eductor Package @ 6800 M3/hr
* VRU Compressor Package @ 100 M3/hr

Area 6 responsible for:
* Heat Medium system circulating a 60/40 TEG liquid solution throughout the plant. Flow is 1,282,000 Kg/hr @ 106 C and 1200 Kpag.
* Equipment consists of a Surge Tank, Slip Steam Filter, gas fired Glycol Trim Heater, Glycol Storage Tank, Glycol Make-up Pump, Glycol Circulation Pumps (3), Glycol Aerial Coolers (10) 322 Gj/hr Duty

Area 7 responsible for:
* Fuel Gas Heater exchanger
* Fuel Gas Odorizer Package
* Fuel Gas Mix Drum
* Flare Knockout Drum
* Flare Knockout Pumps (2)
* HP Flare Stack

Area 8 responsible for:
* Sales Oil Tanks (2) 5130 M3 Vol.
* LACT unit to sales
* Off-spec Bottom Sludge Pump
* Diluent Tank
* Treating Diluent Injection Pumps (2)
* Off-spec/Slop oil Truck-out Pump

Area 9 responsible for:
* Raw Water Storage Tank
* Hypochlorite Treatment Package
* Oxygen Scavenger Treatment Package
* Raw Water Supply Pumps (3)
* Raw Water Filter
* RO Potable Water Treatment Package
* Disposal Water Tank
* BD Disposal Water Injection Pumps (2)
* CO2 Neutralization Package
* Neutralization Mixing Pump
* Disposal Water Booster Pumps (2)
* Blow Down Disposal Water Filter
* Disposal Injection Wells (3)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications:
* Minimum Third Class Power Engineers Certification as per ABSA regulations and working Progressively within Company Approved Training Programs.
* 10 years in Oil & Gas preferably SAGD plant.
* 7 years' experience as plant operator and/or panel operator in the oil/gas industry, including at least 2 years in a plant control room.
* Good command of English and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely on the plant radio network.
* Experience in Commissioning, Start-up, and Shut-down, Trouble shooting and Emergency Handling of Process Operations of facilities in charge.
* Experience and familiar with DCS process operation.
* Proactive, strategic thinker with analytical skills
