The Role:

The primary focus of this position is to support ConocoPhillips Canada's business objectives through engaging with Government and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Manager, Government & External Relations, this role provides information to all levels of the organization regarding a variety of key external topics and issues that may impact CPC. This is a full time, temporary position (12 months) located in the downtown Calgary office.

* Maintain Provincial and Federal Lobby Registers
* Update senior staff on advocacy engagement
* Coordinate government meetings for internal staff
* Develop Federal and Alberta provincial advocacy plans for CPC engagement
* Research Federal and Alberta provincial details of various political issues that may impact CPC
* Maintain awareness of current Provincial (Alberta) and Federal landscape and assess potential impacts to CPC
* Prepare internal briefings for leadership regarding various external topics
* Engage with business partners to develop government outreach strategies on emerging issues
* Attend CAPP meetings and represent CPC's view on various issues
* Manage CAPP memberships and work with CPC CAPP representatives to facilitate information sharing on topics
* Monitor Alberta Provincial and Federal policy change and communicate changes to business partners
* Provide guidance and interpretation on various Alberta Provincial and Federal policy requirements
* Develop Government Relations Bulletins or other communications regarding policy changes and political changes impacting CPC
* Liaise with corporate COP Government Relations team on joint projects
* Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders
* Liaise with external consultants and coordinate communications and engagement
* Process invoices and manage association membership registrations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* 5-10 years of experience in government relations related field
* Minimum 3 years of experience in the oil and gas sector
* Proficient with MS Office Suite
* Proficient with strategic planning and policy writing
* Strong presentation and facilitation experience
* Ability to interface and work with all levels of the organization.

* Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills
* Strong collaboration skills
* Consistently display a high level of personal integrity and self discipline which builds trust and confidence
* Ability to positively influence others and negotiate to mutually beneficial solutions
