The Role:
The Battery Design Engineer will support system and component level design and integration of battery packs and modules. This includes the design of the battery pack housing thermal system EE system LV and HV system design and module design. The chosen candidate will have good understanding and experience in HV battery design. They will have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

This role will be based in either Basildon or Coventry

Daily Responsibilities:
Support system and component level (electrical and mechanical) design of battery packs; including integration into vehicle platforms
Support preparation of battery design reviews
Support the preparation of battery system and component quality documentation (boundary diagrams, P diagrams, robustness check lists, FMEAs and test plans)
Liaise with relevant teams to support battery design tasks (i.e. simulation, component engineers, testing, suppliers and manufacturing)
Support battery pack/module drawing creation
Support assessment of test and simulation results and defining next steps
Support supplier assessment and discussions

Your profile:
Essential:
Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar (min 2:1)
Catia V5/V6, Creo or Unigraphics NX experience
Good understanding of HV battery design fundamentals
Experience in system and component design of battery packs, preferably in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries
Strong communication, teamwork and leading abilities
Good written and oral English and competent presentation skills
Willingness to travel
Driving license

Preferable:
Member of a relevant professional institute (e.g. IET, IMechE)
PhD
Chartered
Project Management experience
