The Role:
Job Purpose Statement

To support the E,C&I Maintenance Team Leader at designated station, in all E,C&I maintenance related activities at the station. The post holder is required to plan, contract (including the management of contractors) and/or physically carry out E,C&I maintenance works at designated UK site, including, including the preparation of method statements and Risk Assessments, as required.


Accountability Statements

* Ensure consistent high levels of House-keeping and Safety
* Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements particularly the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
* Prepare and manage required contracts in support of designated UK Station.
* Participate in the implementation of the Company Safety Rules as either Competent Person or Authorised Person (in accordance with development matrix) in order to ensure that safety from the system is achieved.
* Deliver service and maintenance Best Practice across at designated site.
* Manage contracts and provide supervision of designated people during plant overhauls.
* Proactive and creative approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving.
* Provide support on a 24/7 basis and ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, on time, at or below budget, to the correct quality and within the environmental limits of the station.
* Support and deliver the Process Safety KPI's associated with areas of responsibility.
* Develop understanding of the business and Station objectives.

Dimensions

* Input into developing and managing budgets and costs.
* Undertake procurement activities within the Company policies and process, including developing technical specifications.
* Participation in delivery of major and interim inspections and overhauls at designated UK site, managing contracts and contractors in accordance with commercial requirements and
* Deliver hand ons maintenance activities on EC&I equipment
* Maintain interfaces with suppliers, contractors and other parties.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including written reports.
* There is an expectation for occasional travel to each site to undertake work activities as the business requires.
* Ability to handle multiple work projects running together as the business need arises.


Planning & Organising

Good organisation and time management skills. With limited supervision deliver EC&I maintenance in conjunction with mechanical, engineering and commercial requirement

Manage assigned EC&I elements of outage programmes including contract development, procurement, and commercial management and contract supervision.

Able to communicate with all levels of staff and management, both verbally and in written reports.

React and support plant breakdowns being able to prioritise workload under pressure to mitigate impact to profitability.

Ability to analyse and diagnose problems in a rational and positive manner.

Internal and External Relationships

Ability to work as part of a small team, communicate clearly and concisely.

Internal contacts include:

* Staff and contractors within designated station as well as other parts of ScottishPower and the wider business.
* Participate where required in regular meetings with other teams both internal and external to the UK Thermal Group.
* Provide support where required to UK Thermal Engineering and Performance & Compliance teams.
* Interaction with procurement for framework agreements submission.

External contacts include:

* Participate where required in regular meetings contracting companies and OEM user groups to promote company and benchmark performance.
* Contractors, outside regulatory agencies and bodies

Special Requirements (not mandatory)

Willing and able to work occasional planned and unplanned overtime, including unsociable hours, as well as supporting an informal call out rota.

Occasional travel to other sites, suppliers and training providers etc (limited but possible, occasional travel abroad).


Minimum Criteria (mandatory)
Criteria

HNC/ONC in an engineering discipline and a relevant Apprenticeship, with 2 years in a process industry-based maintenance role.

Or 2:1 Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Computer literate.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Computer literacy skills.
* At least 2 years' experience in the maintenance of a CCGT plant or in large-scale process industry, and
* Educated to HNC standard or equivalent qualifications and experience.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Demonstration of team working skills.
* IOSH Entry Level Qualification to Managing Safely.
* Knowledge of budgets and contract management
* Knowledge and experience of the principles of working safely and health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Focused on achieving results and keen to develop skills
* Self motivated with a flexible approach.
* Ability to support other disciplines mechanical with work planning and plant diagnostics.
