The Role:
- This is a position as a Sustainability Engineer.
- To be successful, candidates will need to be collaborative, work well without direct supervision or authority and have the capacity to "do the work"/fill in gaps wherever needed combined with the awareness to ask for and leverage/utilize existing team work products wherever possible.
- Our approach/philosophy will be to integrate Sustainability Vision/Goals into existing work programs to the maximum extent possible and tweak work processes when needed to institutionalize the evolution of existing systems toward our Sustainability vision whenever possible.
- Candidates will need to have the experience/courage to propose/develop new fit for purpose tools and work processes when warranted…(e.g. Water Consumption…) again, so that we drive Sustainability into XTO/Permian work processes as we move forward.
- These candidates will need to have the capacity and judgment to decide how/when to triage their effort to meet the risk/opportunity of the issue being assessed/managed (e.g. trust, trust/verify, create).
- Contractor management may become a more prominent element of our work at some point, but right now our exposure to contractor support (directed by the Sustainability team) is expected to be limited to guided Sustainability Program / Tool Development and Communications/Training Support with a potential for a limited amount of baseline assessment work to be directed in areas where XTO doesn't have in house expertise (e.g. Socioec).

- Engineer will plan, design and supervise a variety of industrial activities and processes in oil and gas to prevent, control or remediate potential environmental impacts.
- They can specialize in a specific area such as air, water or waste management. Environmental auditing, testing and regulatory compliance/reporting are key activities in this role.
