The Role:

Position Title: Senior Risk Analyst

Department: Middle Office

Reports To: Risk Manager

Main Job Function:

The team provides real-time front-line control and management information for management, and traders. This includes producing and analyzing daily PNL & risk management reporting for commodity-related transactions, measuring and monitoring portfolio risks, validating trades for accuracy and within prescribed limits and ad hoc risk analysis. The role also involves participating projects in improving the ETRM system.

Key Responsibility Areas:

The main duties and responsibilities of the job holder are:

- Prepare and review of daily PNL and risk reports and follow up on any issues with relevant teams;
- Ensure that all risk limits are adhered to and assist in implementing new limits when necessary;
- Assist in identifying the significant risk within the business, ensuring that they are transparent to senior management
- Maintain a good knowledge of the current physical Crude and Products market;
- Support front office in new products and non-standard products approval;
- Participate in enhancement and development of ETRM systems;
- Assist in defining forward curve methodologies for accurate mark to market and fair value reporting;
- Contribute to the month and quarter-end activities with Back Office/Accounting for gas and derivatives portfolios;
- Develop and maintain strong business relationship with different functions, e.g Front Office; Back Office; IT; Planning & Control;
- Strong daily cooperation within the market risk team and promote knowledge sharing between commodity desks.
- Setting and monitoring adherent to risk limits for the desk
- Guarantee compliance for trading procedures with relevant controls and support when necessary internal and external audit requests;

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Risk Manager and has the following main interfaces:
- INTERNAL: Front and Back Office, IT, other Middle Office units; Operations, Planning & Control, Finance;
- EXTERNAL: Brokers; relevant industry contacts

Candidate Specifications:

- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance and / or engineering discipline;
- 5+ years' experience in a market risk/ product control role from trading companies or banks;
- Strong knowledge of derivatives trading;
- Experience working on daily PnL and MTM and understanding trader strategies for the Crude and Products trading desk.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Crude and Products Markets. Primary regions are North East and Gulf Coast.
- Advanced knowledge of risk metrics such as VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis;
- Knowledge of one or more of ETRM systems would be an advantage (Endur, Symphony by Amphora).
- Strong and solid knowledge of MS Office suite including excellent Excel and VBA skills, Matlab & SQL knowledge a plus;
- Ability to communicate concisely to senior management in Market Risk and to stakeholders;
- Highly organised, good attention to detail and ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Analytical mind and good numerical skills;
- Proactive and result oriented approach to work;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to build and nurture effective relationships internally and externally;
- Ability to mentor junior members and raise profile of the team;
- Full command of English language (spoken and written).

Detailed Responsibilities

* Produce and deliver timely daily PnL report for management review. Weekly and monthly PnL reports are also required for Group roll-up.
* Validate all transactions input into ETRM system and resolve any discrepancies with Traders. Produce daily report showing input errors.
* Participate in key risk driver analysis, risk profiling and aggregation, and risk model development.
* Daily analysis of movement of PnL and MTM and understanding of Trader's strategies whilst working closely with them to resolve any issues.
Develop trend analysis and other scenario testing to understand market movements.
* Analyze risk parameters to verify they are within the approved tolerances and limits.
* Participate in risk technology/systems design and implementation.
* Provide back-up as required to the various other activities within the risk team
* Support regional and global process & procedure standardization initiatives

Working Requirement
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your
current employer.
