The Role:
As a Hardware Product Operation SupporT (POST) engineer you will be tasked with providing customers with a full hardware diagnostic investigation and 8D report on returned products. Whilst also being responsible for diagnosing hardware designs for weakness, identifying potential solutions and working with the hardware design team to continuously improve hardware platforms.

Responsibilities will include:
* Building knowledge and understanding of the current hardware designs of different product platforms, existing test benches, test tools and test philosophies.
* Design and execute robustness testing to find weaknesses in designs.
* Support the Continuous Engineering teams on product hardware issues.
* Investigation of hardware design to identify failure root cause to internal component level.
* Investigate potential design failures and work with the hardware team on redesign.
* Working with the hardware team to execute design corrections and new design solutions on hardware and firmware.
* Working with the hardware team execute verification testing for new selected component sources and adapt the board designs to them where required.
* Working with the hardware team execute redesigns required to replace obsolete components.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
* Minimum of two years of product development experience, preferably in design, development and industrialisation of protective relays (preparation of development plan, design specifications, test specifications and test results and the commercial release of hardware and software)
* Experienced engineer with a hardware development background, .
* Experience in EMC design requirements.
* Basic awareness of functional safety: IEC61508 safety integrity levels.
* Design for manufacture and test, including Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
* Familiarity with test equipment required for product verification, functional testing and communications testing.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Knowledge of developing and testing embedded products, especially high-speed micro-processor design
* Ideally will have some knowledge and capability in the design and operation of test automation environments.
