The Role:
General Information:
Client is seeking CMCL Assistant Coordinators for the Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project Construction Monitoring and Community Liaison (CMCL) Program responsible for supporting the implementation of the program during construction. The CMCL Program supports regulatory requirements and provides opportunities for Indigenous participation in construction activities within their traditional territories. Through this Program, Coastal GasLink will further its commitment to Indigenous communities and support strong, mutually beneficial relationships based on trust and respect.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the CMCL Coordinator will support overseeing Indigenous CMCL Advisor activities during Project construction. The CMCL Coordinator will coordinate logistics, lead discussions, guide observations, coordinate interactions with construction personnel, manage issues and report. This role requires an understanding of pipeline construction coupled with an ability to work effectively with Indigenous groups in the field.


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the implementation of the CMCL program
- Supporting the coordination of the logistics of mobilizing and de-mobilizing CMCL Advisors
- Supporting discussions and addressing questions about construction activities
- Engaging and coordinating with Construction personnel and Environmental Inspectors
- Ensuring that CMCL Advisors have appropriate safety training, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and have completed onboarding activities prior to beginning work on-site
- Complying with all safety, code of conduct and fit for work requirements
- Supporting the management of issues raised by CMCL Advisors regarding construction activities including escalating issues to the Program Manager where appropriate
- Assisting CMCL Advisors in completing reports
- Reviewing CMCL Program reports
- Compiling and managing CMCL report data
- Representing the CMCL Program with Indigenous communities as required


Qualifications and Education:

Qualifications
- Field experience in environmental or construction inspection for pipelines or similar role
- Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of Indigenous-specific values and sites of significance
- Willingness to travel, work designated shifts and reside in hotel or camp accommodation
- Must be fit to work in a field construction environment including completion of an alcohol and drug screen prior to working on-site
- Willingness to work shift schedule: 6 days on - 1 day off (10-12 hours/per day)
- Understanding of pipeline construction activities
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, high performing team
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute on assigned tasks
- Proven team player with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and cross-cultural environments

Education / Experience
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of combined applicable academic training, certification and related stakeholder, environmental or pipeline construction experience
- API 1169 (pipeline construction inspector) certification preferred
- First Aid Level 1 training considered an asset but not required
- WHIMS training considered an asset but not required

Please Note:
- This position is field-based and may require residing in a construction camp setting
- This position requires candidates to have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
