The Role:
Responsibilities
· Engage with client's teams and provide Indigenous Relations Business Engagement planning deliverables (strategies and plans) and contribute to other project governance and planning deliverables;
· Support the development and refinement of communication materials for Indigenous communities and contractors related to Indigenous Relations Business Engagement;
· Participate in industry and community trade shows and events and individual meetings with communities and affiliated businesses;
· Identify local Indigenous community-owned and member-owned businesses and assess capacity and interest to participate in client's business activities and match this with the Company's business needs;
· Support continuous improvement of the Indigenous Business database;
· Maintain accurate records of interactions with indigenous communities and affiliated businesses;
· Identify opportunities for supplier capacity development investments that are aligned with client's business objectives;
· Evaluate Indigenous Participation Plans (IPPs) submitted by client contractors and vendors and provide recommendations to project and operation teams;
· Participate in regular meetings with client Project Management and Construction Management teams, as well as contractors and vendors, to identify opportunities for indigenous participation throughout lifecycle of project and operations activities;
· Monitor and support client contractor and vendor performance related to Indigenous participation;
· Provide feedback to Indigenous communities and affiliated businesses through all phases of the execution of work;
· Other duties including support of departmental continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
· Knowledge of Federal and Provincial regulatory processes and consultation guidelines;
· Knowledge of history and issues facing indigenous communities and individuals;
· Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and working with representatives and community members to resolve complex issues;
· Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous groups to identify opportunities to support capacity building;
· Experience developing principled reciprocal business relationships;
· Strong interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, and communication skills including public speaking with a focus on facilitation;
· Proven team player with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams;
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute on assigned tasks; and

Education/Experience:
· Minimum post-secondary undergraduate degree;
· Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience, including:
o Experience working in supply chain/procurement;
o Experience supporting large scale/infrastructure projects;
o Pipeline and facility construction;
o Experience engaging with Indigenous communities;
o Excellent written and oral communication skills;
o Ability to learn and use a variety of cloud / web and desktop computer applications.
· An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Please Note:
* This position will require overnight travel to meet with Indigenous communities and businesses and client operations and project teams (frequently over 50% of the time).
* This position requires candidates to have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review.
