The Role:
Role: Intermediate/Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

Department: Gas Project Engineering

General Information
Our client is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support the critical services for the effective delivery of Canada Gas pipeline projects and to provide operational engineering support for all of company's existing operating assets.

Responsibilities:
- Provide civil engineering technical direction and support for the modification, upgrade, and construction of company's gas pipeline and its facilities;
- Work closely with Canadian Gas Project development and implementation teams to successfully install quality projects on time and on budget;
- Provide civil engineering technical support to field operations and commercial stakeholders;
- Support scoping civil work for the development of projects;
- Design experience in structures, foundations and site grading;
- Compliance to industry and company's design and construction specifications and standards;
- Detailed designs are completed by external engineering service providers. Selected candidate will work with the project team to select and onboard the provider and then monitoring and provide oversight of the engineering contractor (who is accountable for detailed design);
- Provide technical support by providing timely reviews of required specifications and project design reviews;
- Technical support for fabrication, construction and (de)commissioning;
- Technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff;
- Implement short-term and long-term solutions for civil/structural integrity issues for new capital projects and for operations;
- Ensure that project designs are fit-for-purpose and demonstrated to meet project development expectations (such as performance and cost) as well as technical, regulatory, environmental, commercial, safety, operating, and maintenance requirements;
- Monitor quality, timeliness, and cost of work performed;
- Application of engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend improvements and implement solutions;
- Collaborate with specialized internal engineering teams and other stakeholders;
- Travel is required during construction to provide field engineering support.

Qualifications and Education:

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of Codes and Acts applicable to the above systems including local building code and professional engineering requirements;
- Knowledge and in depth understanding of civil/structural engineering
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering and pipeline engineering is desired.
- Client focused with an ability to provide innovative and practical engineering solutions within the requirements of the project.
- Independent and self motivated;
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize work.
- Willingness to travel within North America for limited periods of time;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong team player and ability to networking with project team other subject matter experts.
- Effective influencing skills.

Education/Experience:

- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, must completed registration as a professional engineer;
- 8 or more years of progressive engineering experience in the design and installation/commissioning of pipeline and facility systems;
- Construction experience in site grading, road construction, underground utilities, geotechnical, trenchless crossing, concrete & steel structure and foundation is an asset.
- Experience with North American gas and/or oil transportation facility design is desired.
