The Role:
General Information
Our Client is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support the critical services for the effective delivery of Canada Gas Measurement projects. Reporting to the Measurement Engineering Manager, this role will be responsible for the quality assurance of civil technical deliverables pertaining to the Canada Gas Meter Station program, and will be work closely with key internal and external stakeholders. This opportunity is technical in nature but demands excellent communication and issue resolution abilities.

Responsibilities

* Adhere to the Client Practice of Engineering - ensure pipeline design / mechanical engineering / electrical engineering within engineering standards meets technical, regulatory, and business requirements
* Drive continuous improvement of engineering designs through collaboration with stakeholders
* Develop strong professional relationships with business partners and a network of internal and external contacts (e.g. peers, leaders, construction contractors, etc.)
* Provide civil engineering technical direction and support for the modification, upgrade, and construction of Client's Metering facilities;
* Work closely with Canadian Gas Measurement Project development and implementation teams to successfully execute quality projects on time and on budget;
* Support scoping civil work for the development of projects;
* Compliance to industry and Client's design and construction specifications and standards;
* Detailed designs are completed by external engineering service providers. Selected candidate will work with the project team to select and onboard the provider and then monitoring and provide oversight of the engineering contractor (who is accountable for detailed design);
* Provide technical support by providing timely reviews of required specifications and project design reviews;
* Technical support for fabrication, construction and (de)commissioning;
* Technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff;
* Implement short-term and long-term solutions for civil/structural integrity issues for new capital projects and for operations;
* Ensure that project designs are fit-for-purpose and demonstrated to meet project development expectations (such as performance and cost) as well as technical, regulatory, environmental, commercial, safety, operating, and maintenance requirements;
* Travel is required during fabrication and construction to provide field engineering support.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications:

Knowledge of Codes and Acts applicable to the above systems including National and local building code and professional engineering requirements;
- Knowledge and in depth understanding of civil/structural engineering
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering is desired.
- Client focused with an ability to provide innovative and practical engineering solutions within the requirements of the project.
- Independent and self motivated;
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize work.
- Willingness to travel within Canada for limited periods of time;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong team player and ability to networking with project team other subject matter experts.
- Effective influencing skills.
Design experience in structures, foundations and site grading;

Education/Experience:

- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, must completed registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engin
