Our client is seeking a contract Electrical and Instrument & Control Engineer within the Canada Gas Projects Measurement Engineering group. The Canada Gas Projects Measurement Engineering group provides the following critical services for the effective delivery of capacity capital and operational gas measurement-related projects:

Technical support for scoping business development projects;
Design oversight of 3rd party engineering service providers;
Completion of detailed engineering designs for capital and operation projects;
Technical support for construction and (de)commissioning;
Compliance to design and construction specifications and standards;
Stakeholder review of engineering standards.

This role is to act as an internal design engineer when engineering is to be completed internally and as an engineering quality control during measurement project execution when engineering work is completed externally. This encompasses technical understanding, design and review of internal and 3rd party engineer work along with issue management and resolution throughout the lifecycle of projects. This role is technical in nature but demands excellent communication skills to manage issues between 3rd parties and stakeholders throughout the company.

Specific Experience, Qualifications, and Education Desired

The successful candidate must have approximately 5-10 years of engineering experience in the design and installation/commissioning of gas measurement facilities, and be familiar with the impact of design on operation and maintenance considerations. The successful candidate must have knowledge of applicable Codes and Acts, best practices for design, construction, and commissioning of measurement equipment and related facilities, and quality assurance and quality control of drawings and designs.

Specific Experience, Qualifications, and Education Desired

Knowledge of CEC.
Design experience with gas measurement facilities electrical and control systems including low voltage distribution, control panel design, instrumentation, analytical gas sample systems, communications, remote power, offsite fabrication, onsite commissioning.
Experience with Measurement Canada Custody Transfer Gas Measurement.
Experience with sizing and installation of orifice meters, turbine meters, ultrasonic meters and coriolis meters for gas service.
General experience with input/output wiring and RTU, PLC and Flow computer integration
Design oversight experience acting as owners engineer for third party design work
Previous gas measurement facility experience is an asset
Professional Engineer status registered in Alberta.
