Our client, a large midstream company, is recruiting for an intermediate Environmental Advisor specifically for technical analysis on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air pollutants.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Governance and Programs, this position will be an integral part of a team responsible for conducting technical analysis on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air pollutants in support of corporate environmental reporting, as well as assisting with the development of corporate risk mitigation strategies and programs. This role will support developing and/or implementing strategies to sustain regulatory compliance with Canadian and provincial/state regulations and company best practices.

Responsibilities

Prepare government mandated air and GHG compliance reporting of emission sources;
Review company operating procedures and processes: identify gaps, issue recommendations and track implementation;
Analyze and assess the impact of emerging environmental issues and risks and develop mitigation strategies to assist business units in meeting environmental goals;
Build and maintain GHG and air emissions programs with objectives, targets, metrics procedures and processes;
Provide technical assistance in the evaluation and management of climate change and air emission issues in compliance with environmental regulations and laws;
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (field operations, corporate, Community Relations, regulators and legal) to manage environmental risk;
Other tasks as required.


Qualifications

Knowledge of environmental laws/regulations and practices pertaining to pipeline development and/or other energy project development;
Experience working with Canadian and Provincial/State regulatory agencies;
Good working knowledge of IT processes;
Advanced analytical ability to gather and evaluate complex information obtained from a variety of sources.
Innovative ability to work and contribute in a team environment;
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Excel;
Strong research skills;
Strong problem solving and decision making skills to resolve complex and ambiguous issues.


Education/Experience

Five or more years of experience in related work such as: environmental permitting, air emissions modeling, combustion equipment engineering, project management, and environmental compliance;
Must have experience with climate change regulatory reporting, verification and/or auditing;
Specific experience in air emissions and climate change technical, regulatory and policy issues considered an asset;
University engineering degree, Environmental Science degree and/or equivalent work experience in public policy or related fields;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders from grass-roots to senior policy-makers.
