The Role:
Our client, a large oil and gas midstream company, is seeking an Environmental Risk Analyst based in Calgary, AB.

Environmental Risk Analyst General Information:
The following position reports to the Manager of Remediation within the Environment Department. The successful applicant will become part of a multi-disciplinary technical team responsible for the management of environmental liability. We plan and manage environmental programs to investigate, monitor, remediate and manage impacts associated with current and historical operations of assets. The Remediation group provides technical guidance for various stakeholders within the company with consideration to public interest, regulatory requirements, the environment and health and safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the application and maintenance of three environmental risk assessment tools focused on operating and decommissioned facilities.
The environmental risk tools are designed to facilitate the planning and prioritization of environmental programs for the management of environmental risk. The candidate will work primarily with the senior risk specialist, in the Calgary Head office.

Responsibilities:
* Application and maintenance of qualitative and quantitative internal environmental risk tools
* Assist in the development and maintenance of the internal risk program through regular updates and quality control checks
* Assist with document and data management through the application of our environmental database EQUIS
* Provide environmental technical support to internal stakeholders (project managers, field operations personnel etc.)
* Assist with Research & Development Project execution
* Interface with internal and external stakeholders to identify changing business needs and industry best management practices
* Assist with the training and support of summer students Qualifications and Education

Qualifications and competencies:
* Background in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, biology or risk assessment
* Strong analytical skills including critical thinking, judgment, and attention to detail
* Good verbal, written communication and presentation skills
* Self-motivated and organized
* Excellent computer skills with background in Microsoft Excel
* Able to work in a team environment

Education and experience required:
* Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or health science is preferred
* 1-3 years of experience with environmental risk assessment and environmental management
* 1-3 years of experience either with pipelines, oil and gas or environmental consulting
* Experience with EQUIS, statistics, GIS, programming will be considered a bonus
* Familiar with applicable provincial and/or federal legislation, regulations and guidelines
