The Role:
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Cost Manager, you will support the Project by reviewing and analyzing information for cost forecasting, management of change and proposing recommendations through the development and review of Project Management Cost Reports. You will work closely with the Cost Lead, Project Estimator and Scheduler to ensure cost and schedule alignment, and act as the focal point for Contractors' Monthly Cost and Progress reviews and validation.
This position is based in the Calgary office with periodic trips to site as required.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Review monthly Progress Reports from Contractors for accuracy and reasonability including incurred cost and forecast, as well as review for alignment to the Project schedule;
* Receive incurred costs into SAP from Contractors;
* Incorporate Contractor forecasts into overall Project forecast;
* Create, maintain and manage cost forecasting/reporting systems to ensure accuracy and visibility of project estimates and budgets to project scope/objectives utilizing Power BI and SAP system;
* Create Monthly PM Cost Reports using Power BI;
* Monitor costs and forecast in accordance to approved budgets and provide variance explanations as required;
* Review monthly project charges for accuracy and make corrections as required;
* Review and validate reports with Functional Leads for monthly cost reporting data; incurred cost, earned value and forecast;
* Provide inputs to a monthly scorecard and stage gate updates along with the monthly cost reports;
* Work with Contractors to ensure quality and timeliness of Contractor Reports;
* Attend Contractor meetings as required;
* Review all invoices for reasonableness;
* Review and support the Management of Change (MOC) process;
* Work with Supply Chain to ensure all contracts are coded accurately to the project and Project Controls are reviewed and attached with the contract;
* Forecast costs to completion based on trends including productivity measurements, labour rate analysis, commitments, management of change, schedule impacts and material cost variance;
* Additional analysis as required.

Minimum qualifications
* Relevant post-secondary degree or technical diploma is required, Accounting, Business Management, or Project Management degree is preferred;
* Eight (8) or more years of related experience is preferred;
* Alternate combination of experience and education may be considered;
* In-depth working knowledge of Project Control functions and processes including planning/scheduling, cost estimating, cost control, change management, risk assessment, financial, and project accounting processes and systems;
* Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite).

Preferred qualifications
* Strong interpersonal skills;
* Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision;
* Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills to assist in working in a fast paced and evolving work environment;
* Excellent knowledge of SAP or other Cost Control systems is highly desirable;
* Sound analytical and critical thinking skills;
* Strong communication skills, including ability to present information to a variety of audiences internally and externally;
* Proactive approach to continuous improvement initiatives;
* Strong interpersonal skills including, collaboration, conflict resolution and cross functional engagement;
* Experience with SharePoint 365 and Power BI.
