The Role:
This position is to be based in Bolton, Ontario, reporting to the Manager, Land Operations Services in the Environment, Land & Indigenous Relations department in Calgary.

The role involves supporting land activities in a geographic area (generally, Brace bridge-GTA-Niagara Falls-Cobourg, Ontario) by obtaining site access, acquiring land rights, and resolving land-related issues per applicable regulatory requirements, Company procedures, and/or contractual obligations.

The individual will work with internal and external parties in providing land and public awareness support on behalf of client.

Vehicle travel and occasional stays away from home are required to service the area of responsibility.


* Working with client's Land team and contract Land Agents to support the Operations & Maintenance needs of the three client's Business Units
* Negotiating with stakeholders to acquire or maintain land rights
* Assessing crop losses and settling damage claims
* Identifying risks, providing advice, and/or resolving land issues, claims, arbitrations and legal actions, recognizing precedent-setting impacts
* Completion of required documentation in an accurate and timely manner
* Supporting client's Public Awareness and Damage Prevention programs
* Assisting with the resolution of Unauthorized Activities and encroachments
* Maintaining landowner data
* Participating in process improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Education

* Must possess a valid Ontario driver's license
* Requires exceptional written and spoken communication skills
* Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
* Strong knowledge of land principles and practices for Canadian energy industries
* Solid understanding of agricultural practices and techniques
* Strong working knowledge of the National Energy Board (NEB) Act and NEB Pipeline Damage Prevention Regulations
* Strong working knowledge of various Ontario municipal permitting requirements
* Sound analytical and interpretive skills with an aptitude for resolving issues
* Proven experience working with private landowners, government entities, urban land developers, etc. and the ability to lead negotiations
* Self-starter with strong time management and multi-tasking skills
* Service-focused with an interest in efficient and accurate delivery of results
* Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft suite, SAP, geo-mapping, and on-line property and title management systems

* Ten (10) years of related industry experience in a population-dense environment (preferably within Ontario)
* Demonstrated Project Management experience
* University degree or college diploma preferred (an equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education may be considered)
* Certification through a recognized land, appraisal, or planning institute, although not mandatory, will be considered an asset
