The Role:
* Work concurrently on multiple pipeline integrity projects, and manage, prioritize and effectively handle multiple and competing demands and tasks from Project design initiation to completion;
* Oversee engineering design work - specifically related to gas pipeline integrity. This includes (but is not limited to), crossing designs (HDD, direct bore, etc.), launcher receivers, valve replacements, hot tap and stopples bypass, tether risers, class location upgrades and reconnects;
* Perform design reviews, as well as facilitate the stage gate engineering design and review process as part of process;
* Work closely with Design Engineers, Drafting, engineering service provider (ESP) and other stakeholders (e.g. operations) to develop the design, ensuring alignment with commercial drivers and scope requirements;
* Coordinate the engineering design disciplines to deliver the issued for construction drawings;
* Manage third-party engineering contractors in the development of detailed design associated with pipeline integrity projects;
* Coordinate the work of all internal technical disciplines and third-party engineering services providers to ensure proper engineering products and support are delivered;
* Provide third party engineering updates to project management, including scheduling and cost tracking;
* Coordinate resolution of technical & project issues related to the development, engineering design and procurement/contracts for pipeline integrity projects;
* Coordinate responses to project inquiries arising from third-party internal/external stakeholders as well as vendors/contractors and ensure proper and timely assistance to such queries is provided;
* Manage workload and ensure appropriate utilization of external resources;
* Draft and facilitate completion of technical project documents including: Design Basis Memorandums (DBM), Technical Descriptions, Request for Quote (RFQ), Scope of Work, etc.;
* Support project design and technical scoping, performance of design work, and change management are implemented per project and regulatory requirements;
* Coordinate the procurement activities for project materials (RFQs, technical review, data sheets, vendor documents and drawings etc.);
* Facilitate the RFI process to ensure timely and quality responses are being completed during fabrication and construction;
* Provide input into key learnings and commitment to continual improvement of project processes and systems;
* Opportunity to attend site visits throughout the project and during Construction;
* Support Information Management ensuring records are appropriately tracked and filed;
* Maintain project quality objectives by documenting non-conformances (NCR), opportunities for improvement (OFI), lessons learned and assisting quality audits.
Preferred Qualifications
* Background in pipeline engineering relating to gas;
* Experience in engineering management, specifically management of engineering contractors
* Demonstrated team player with ability to work with multiple projects at the same time;
* Ability to manage, prioritize and effectively handle multiple and competing demands and tasks;
* Proven analytical skills and critical thinking skills with the ability to research, gather, analyze and synthesize multiple sources of information (technical, contractual, regulatory, etc.);
* Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision and direction;
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with strong networking/relationship-building capabilities;
* Commitment to health, safety, environment and quality;
* Strong team orientation, demonstrating a high level of cooperation;
* Understands PDS Roadmap for project requirements;
* Understands baseline pipeline, valve, facility piping, design, materials, fabrication, construction, integrity, operations;
* Understands projects long-lead materials requirements and procurement;
* Understands basic civil design and electrical site plan, grounding, and area classification.
Education / Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, disciplines in Mechanical preferred;
* Eligible to register with APEGA;
* Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant experience is required;
* Previous experience within construction or operations is considered an asset;
* Knowledge of gas pipeline, design, regulations, design standards and specifications is considered an asset.
