The Role:
Travel 25%

Reporting to the Manager of Welding and Materials Engineering this position will be responsible for providing technical expertise in Welding & NDE for design, construction, compliance, inspection and maintenance of Company pipeline and energy assets.
The position will be responsible for development, implementation of pipeline joining programs and the procedures and process for welding and NDE.

Responsibilities
- Reviewing and approving welding procedures, engineering design, and fabrication drawings to ensure they conform to industry codes and Company standards and specifications;
- Ensuring technical specifications related to welding and NDE are up to date and incorporate industry best practices to meet the business units requirements;
- Provide support and technical assistance in qualifying Company internal core welders for In-Service Welding Applications per API-1104 welding code requirements;
- Developing and implementing quality management processes and systems in relation to welding and NDE;
- Providing technical support to project, design and field construction inspection personnel on capital or maintenance projects;
- Providing technical input for construction practices and procedures;
- Able to work with multi-discipline engineering teams in the support of quality management procedures;
- Develop, implement, and monitor performance measures;
- Evaluate new internal company procedures for adoption by the project,
- Assist in training, coaching and stewardship of the Welding & NDE programs within the project;
- Train and coach project personnel on the project Quality Management Systems with regards to Welding & NDE;
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis on identified problems;
- Initiate opportunities for improvement and solutions;

Qualifications and Education
- Safety-focused, excellent safety record, required;
- Engineering degree with additional welding or NDE education.
- 5 to 10 Years construction/welding experience in the pipeline industry;
- Knowledge of design, construction, and operation of Oil & Gas pipeline systems;
- SAP experience
- Familiarity with storage tank fabrication practices, preferred;
- Working knowledge of and US welding codes and regulations;
- Familiar with automated ultrasonic testing, radiography and other NDE methods, preferred;
- Knowledge of mechanized welding processes and their application to high strength pipeline steels, preferred;
-Strong interpersonal communication skills, required;
- Strong written and presentation skills, required;
- Strong decision-making skills, required;
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal direction, required;
- Innovative, self-motivated, and able to work and contribute in a team environment;
- Willingness to travel, required;
