The Role:
This individual will manage the drilling rig operations while having overall location and personnel responsibility in order to achieve the Operator's EHS and business targets. Individual will be responsible for coordinating, executing and performing operations in a safe and effective manner. Prepare daily operations plan while overseeing drilling operations, logistics coordination of equipment and personnel on location. The DSV will provide the supervision, leadership and motivation for a team responsible for executing the drilling program as issued utilizing Standard Work procedures. Operations will be conducted in a safe, efficient, and timely manner ensuring implementation of the company's policies and procedures on location.


* Ensure safety and environmental performance is given the highest priority during well operations including adherence with all Operator, Contractor, and Vendor EHS Policies. Promote and demonstrate Stop Work authority
* Promote a positive safety culture on location.
* Lead and manage the daily operations of the drilling rig to ensure it is operated and maintained according to the Operator's EHS Standards and operational 'best practices.'
* Supervise on site drilling related activities to ensure that well plans are followed and regularly communicate progress to the Drilling Engineer, Field and Houston Drilling Superintendent
* Conduct operations in compliance with Global Drilling and Completions Operating Standards
* It is expected that you will maximize your time outside supervising operations and prepare paperwork as needed.
* Optimize drilling performance and directional parameters in consultation with the Operator's Real Time Drilling center.
* Coordinate with Contractor, Equipment and Service Providers to provide operational forecasts to allow continuous operations and contingency plans and provide performance feedback to the Field and Houston Drilling Superintendent
* Monitor drilling fluid and cement preparation for strict adherence to quality standards
* Supervise rig move and rig up/down operations per the Operator's policy
* Attend all pre tower meetings - address and discuss pending operations and safety concerns.
* Ensure that all arriving personnel on location have proper and required the Operator's certifications and reinforce our desire for a safe and efficient operation.
* Be actively involved in accident/incident or unplanned event investigation
* Responsible for personally performing the daily operational calculations ie: cement volumes, displacement, casing lengths, casing space out, well control kill mud weights, etc.
* Prepare clear written daily drilling instructions to the contractors to ensure that company business targets are achieved while creating effective teams
* Responsible for high quality daily reporting, accurately describing rig activities in accordance with Company Standards
* Add input to the After Action Report ( AAR ) highlighting future actions for improvement
* Ensure any actions for rig inspections or AAR's are closed out
* Assess risk of all activities, initiate the necessary risk assessment processes, and ensure mitigation measures are implemented.
* Provide relevant effective information and maintain required documentation and records.
* Ensure necessary competency and training of all personnel.
* Ensure that effective communications are maintained with all personnel on location.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent minimum
* 10+ years onshore/offshore drilling operations experience with 5+ years of wellsite supervisory experience
* Current Well Control Certificate required, Surface Stack at a minimum.
* Offshore and land rig experience desirable; Extended Reach Drilling a plus.
* A strong leader and team player; ability to work in cross functional organization
* Good analytical and problem solving skills
* MS Office Suite experienced, excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
