The Role:
DIRECTION EXERCISED AND AUTHORITY:
Reporting to the Permit to Work isolation Authority (or designate) this position will support the efforts of the Isolation Authority in fulfilling the responsibilities of that position from a mechanical perspective.
As part of the requirements for this position, the incumbent will be responsible for performing field inspections for the purpose of verifying adherence to various legislation, governing documentation, and contractor plans and procedures.
This position is also responsible to ensure that all required isolations adequately protect workers from the potential release of hazardous energy.

DIRECTION RECEIVED AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports directly to the Permit to Work Isolation Authority.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY OF SCOPE:
The Mechanical Isolating Authority Verifier has responsibility for the day-to-day field verification of permitted activities for the construction, commissioning, and handover stages of the main generation Powerhouse at the Muskrat Falls Generation construction site

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is being executed as a contract scope of work. The duties and job functions of the Mechanical Isolating Authority Verifier shall include, but are not limited to the following:
* Perform field inspections to confirm compliance with PTW work scopes
* Perform field inspections to verify accuracy and completeness of PTW supporting documentation
* Verify that all work performed by Contractors complies with their LOTO programs
* Verify that all required isolations adequately protect workers from the potential release of hazardous energy

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* University graduation with a Bachelor degree in Engineering related discipline, or appropriate mechanical trade certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
* Minimum 5 to 7 years' experience in related field
* Experience working in energized installations
* Familiarization with Permit-to-Work systems for energized installations
* Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulatory Requirements and Construction Industry Best Practices considered an asset

* Must be self-motivated with demonstrated sound judgment and decision making skills
* Excellent problem solving skills
* Ability to plan work well, and to be well-organized
* Demonstrate a willingness to adhere to the client's vision and values
* Solution oriented and demonstrated creative thinking
* Must be able to work in a collaborative/supportive manner with stakeholders
* Must be able to work a site based rotational work schedule

Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.
