Our client, a renewable energy company, is seeking a Project Engineer at their Hydro project in Newfoundland. This is a 14/7 rotation to site from St. Johns, NL.

In relation to site services, the incumbent is expected to ensure timely and accurate information is recorded with respect to company assets and a maintenance program is documented and implemented. Ensure proper procedures are followed within the site services team with respect to the completion of requisitions, follow up of Purchase Orders and material receipts. Also ensure proper tracking is in place for any services provided by third parties.

In relation to coordinating the Site Work Permit process, the incumbent is expected to participate in the development of the tracking process. This process applies to all work at the Muskrat Falls site related to temporary structures and infrastructure, and includes all work that is not directly related to the core project scope for Permanent structures. Activities that require authorization include, but are not limited to, use of laydown areas, installation of temporary buildings and equipment, use of borrow material from stockpiles or borrow sources, energizing electric equipment, transportation of heavy loads across bridges, and working around overhead and underground power lines. There is a process document which outlines the steps required 0 obtain approval for various types of activities, and includes the information requirements for each.

The duties and job functions of the Project Engineer - Site Services shall include, but are not limited to, the foIlowing for:
* Working with the Site Services Team:
* Develop work orders for Site Maintenance Team;
* Review status of Work Orders assigned to Site Maintenance Team;
* Field inspections to develop work order scopes and verify completed work;
* Track and Review Third Party Services information (including Site Service Contracts);
* Assess existing procedures and develop new ones if required;
* Ensure Site Procurement procedures are followed and system in place for tracking process;
* Ensure proper material control and storage is in place;
* Working with the Site Manager and Resident Engineer (along with a Work Term Student)
* Application and process of the work permit approval procedure;
* Receiving requests from Contractor issued through Document Control;
* Assess whether or not a request is admissible and if all required documentation and forms have been
submitted;
* Informing/validating with the Resident Engineer all requests;
* Send all requests to the Engineering Manager with a copy to the relevant Package Engineer;
* Reviewing requests with the Contract Administrator to confirm that there are no
commercial implications with approval;
* Obtain approval from Site Manager;
* Return approvals to Document Control for issue to the contractor;
* Send notification to Contractor of approvals that are about to expire.
* Send request response to LCPDCC to issue to Contractor;
* Maintain register in Aconex LCP Construction Management Module
* Ensure that the tracking procedure for the approved requests is adequate and is being followed.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years' experience preferred, in technical as well as project management and construction roles, but new graduates will also be considered.
  • Background in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering in the construction of large construction projects.
  • Understanding of project management processes and management systems.
  • Background with resolution of construction /management issues during projects planning and execution phases.
  • Proven interpersonal, leadership and team skills.
  • Solution oriented and demonstrated creative thinking.
  • Must possess proven project management skills combined with sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a key member of the Project Delivery Team within amulti-functional team environment.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative/supportive manner with stakeholders.
