The Role:
Joining our existing teams of solution developers producing reusable applications and services within our platform, developers will be responsible for assisting in the production of software designs in line with user requirements, implementing these through various technologies in accordance with user stories and business quality standards.

o Assist in the development of software designs which are consistent with the solution architecture to meet user requirements
o Working as a key member within a self-organising Agile team as a Solution Developer
o Actively participate in time box planning and solution design
o Implement software using the latest versions of Java and JavaScript frameworks, working within the Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEs
o Develop and test solutions to business problems in line with the user requirements
o Work with the solution architect to refine the software architecture and ensure that deliverables are consistent with the full solution
o Work with the project managers and solution architect to estimate user stories, and subsequently deliver as part of the iterative development lifecycle

Rail may not sound like the obvious career path

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
o Web based UIs, ideally Angular and D3
o Java web services (REST) development
o Familiarity with Eclipse and IntelliJ IDE
o Unit testing / mocking frameworks, ideally JUnit/Mockito/Karma/Jasmine and/or Protractor
o Working with relational (MySQL) and document databases (MongoDB)
o JPA / Hibernate framework
o Linux, ideally CentOS / RedHat
o Implementing solutions utilising relevant frameworks, in particular Spring
o Implementing user interface solutions utilising relevant frameworks, in particular Angular, D3, LESS, JavaScript, Typescript, HTML5, RESTful APIs, JSON

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
o Knowledge of AWS technologies
o Experience implementing containerisation (Docker) and microservices
o Experience implementing and using Continuous Integration and Build Pipelines (Ansible, GULP, NPM, Maven, Bower)
o Experience using GIT Source Control
o Awareness of messaging technologies and principles (RabbitMQ)
