The Role:
This role will work closely with the Corrosion Team Leader and the Technical Team Leader to manage the corrosion program for Pipeline and Terminal Assets. The role will develop into the technical center of experience for the region. The engineer may serve as a representative for the team on various business unit wide or inter-region activities and work teams. Managing the corrosion program includes identifying the corrosion needs of the region, developing work plans and budget to execute the work, track the progress of the work, mitigate variances in the work plan, and report on progress. The engineer will be expected to assist in the selection, contracting and management of vendors for the execution of the work. The job will include prioritization of regional corrosion work, understanding the risk of failure, justification of funding and assurance that the program is effective. Key Accountabilities: - Identification of the corrosion program requirements - Prioritization of corrosion needs - Understand regulatory requirements for corrosion - Familiar with industry general and best practices - Ownership of the regional corrosion plan - Development of the region corrosion budget - Corrosion technical center of expertise for the region (eventually) - Provide assurance the corrosion requirements are being met. - Represent BP during regulatory audits of the program. - Approve corrosion related MOCs

Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline such as corrosion science, materials, metallurgy, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering.
Minimum of 5+ years experience working in Production Operations in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry.
Position may require up to 20% travel time, including offshore travel. Candidate must have Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) and Water Survival / Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) certification which are required for offshore travel to GoM facilities.

Provide corrosion and materials engineering expertise to other teams across GOO (Area Operations, Project & Mods, Maintenance, Turn Arounds and Subsea), GPO and GWO to manage corrosion and erosion threats on equipment for which they are the Equipment Class Owner.

Ensure pragmatic solutions are identified and implemented to manage risk, production efficiency, defect elimination and standardization, to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations.

Own and maintain the corrosion threat assessment for the Region ensuring that the identified threats reflect current operations and use this to define, implement and manage Regional Corrosion and Materials mitigation programs across IM and other functions.

Review and endorse corrosion-related metrics (e.g. corrosion control matrices and LOPC data) and intervene where appropriate.

Integrate with associated disciplines to ensure adequate equipment care, including production chemistry, pressure systems integrity, structural & civil engineering and pipeline engineering.

Provide corrosion and materials engineering support in F4S barrier evaluations and incident investigations.

Record relevant learning in shared learning systems, incorporate into local activities, specifications/practices/procedures and escalate high priority lessons.
