The Role:
The Quality Assurance Control Specialist is charged with quality assurance management of drilling related equipment, casing, tubing, and well test equipment for Deepwater D&C.
* Interact with drilling engineers and in-house personnel (HSE, logistics and vendor reps) as needed
* Advise BHP Billiton of tool specific QA requirements based on best practices and experience
* Communicate BHP Billiton specific requirements to vendors - accomplished through developing QPs/ BHPB specific specs
* Communicate expectations and applicable specs/ QPs to third party inspectors: ensure inspectors have all applicable industry standards necessary to QA tools, perform site visits and evaluate both vendor and third party inspectors
* Perform quality management system audits to identify areas that need improving, offer recommendations and identify discrepancies and follow up on corrective actions
* Ensure vendors are adhering to shop procedures and industry standards
* Review daily field reports generated by third party techs to extract discrepancies and address with vendors, identify possible deficiency trends and report back QA value/ impact to BHPB
* Investigate failure incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions to limit re-occurrence
* Identify and schedule required resources based on failure type/ criticality (i.e. inspections, mechanical analysis, etc.)
* Write failure analysis test protocols
* Interfaces with Supply Chain Services and Drilling Engineering department on tendering awards, logistical support and SAP "Plan to Pay" processes
* Supervise and/or provide coaching, mentoring and development to less experienced staff within the D&C team and Third Party Inspectors

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* BSc. in Engineering and/or equivalent Quality Management Certification (e.g.) ASNT Level III certification in specific technical training courses (MP, LP, UT, VT), AWS CWI, Radiographic Film Interpretation, DNV Lead Auditor Requires a minimum of
* 20 years well-rounded field experience in offshore drilling, completion and intervention operations
* Deepwater experience is a must.
* Project management experience highly desired.
