The Company:
In addition to its F1 Powertrain business, our client also undertakes, advanced, high technology projects in order to transfer F1 technologies and know-how into mainstream automotive and high performance road cars.

The Role:
Due to an exciting new project the Automotive Engineering Group are looking for skilled, creative electronic engineers capable of delivering solutions of the highest standard on fast paced and technically challenging projects.
As an Electronic Design Engineer within the Automotive Engineering Group, you will be responsible for the design of electronics control units across the complete range of products found within a high performance, high voltage hybrid system. The responsibility will involve requirements capture, design, layout and manufacture support, testing, documentation and validation of the units.

The role demands a high degree of contact with the systems integration engineers, power systems designers, other design functions, procurement, build and testing operations to deliver complex system solutions efficiently and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for ensuring that the electronic control units are functional to requirements at the point of delivery and also for ensuring that issues and faults arising are dealt with rapidly.

In this position, the Electronic Design Engineer is empowered to act autonomously, ensuring accountability, cost and other key programme metrics.

Role Specific Accountabilities

* Delivering world class engineering solutions of the highest quality in order to meet project targets
* Capturing safety goals, requirements, designing and delivering solutions at the system level of a high performance hybrid vehicle electronic control units
* Carrying out system risk assessment and DFMEA
* Developing safety related and critical systems to the highest standard
* Simulation, design and development of hybrid system related documentation, technical procedures, test requests and reports, including product development, validation and legislative verification
* Assisting hybrid systems build, test and external vehicle operations with integration, problem diagnosis, issue resolution and failure analysis
* Assist in the specification of software requirements for the target control units
* Health and safety of his or herself within the work environment, and giving guidance to others
* Championing best practices in relationship to the HPP Engineering processes and procedures
* Communication of technical solutions to the customer
* Liaison with internal and external suppliers
* Day-to-day management of their tasks

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills including analysing and understanding complex data
* Previous experience of CAN based calibration and data logging for diagnosis
* Ability to read and create electronics schematics and to drive design layout
* Ability to read engineering drawings
* PC literate including MS office products

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
5+ years post graduate experience in challenging, and relevant engineering environment
* Chartered Engineer Professional Registration
* Have previous experience in a "customer facing" technical environment
* Have previous experience working within automotive road car programmes
* Have German language skills
