Role: Communications Advisor
Type: Temporary, Maternity Cover
Duration: January/February 2021 for approx. nine months.
Salary Level: Negotiable - Looking for Rate on CV please - PAYE basis only
Reports To: Head of Communications
Based: Initially from home but the role is based in London office
Time can be worked split from home along with at least 3 days per week based in London office, so must be located within daily commute area.

Reporting to the Head of Communications (HoC), the Communications Advisor is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the global communications strategy. With a strong focus on providing both guidance and supporting execution, the role requires an experienced communicator, capable of planning individual/adhoc communications activities and campaigns for internal and external audiences, creating written materials to a high standard and providing strategic counsel to communications colleagues and senior leaders.
The role involves planning and preparing internal and external communications strategies and materials, to enhance and protect business corporate reputation, positively position executives, leaders and subject matter experts and ensure communications materials are delivered creatively, professionally and in alignment with the Corporate Affairs strategy.
Corporate affairs builds understanding of business among our stakeholders to create the reputation that enables our success. Operating on a global level, the team manages investor relations, Government affairs, media relations, corporate responsibility and internal communications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Work with the HoC to develop strategies for global internal news announcements and short, mid and long-term campaigns, creating written and digital materials;
* Work with the HoC to develop strategies for global external news announcements, supporting the creation of written and digital materials;
* Work with members of executive management team to develop thought leadership content including media briefs, blogs, articles and talking points for external audiences
* Partner with the ESG Manager to develop engagement strategies and create written and digital materials for ESG and ED&I - related internal and external communications;
* Support the HoC to maintain internal editorial rhythm including news calendar, morning editorial call and monthly editorial call;
* Partner with HSEQ function to develop internal communications strategies for new and ongoing communications campaigns and position key HSEQ leaders/personnel internally and externally;
* Work with HoC to support internal and external communications for all other functional VP comms, or as required;
* Partner with country communications leaders to develop internal communications strategies for news announcements, guiding them to identify stories and contribute to wider campaigns;

Required Candidate Skills and Experience
Previous relevant experience in a corporate communications and/or journalism/media background required, with internal communications experience an advantage; proven track record of developing communications plans and creating written materials e.g press releases, news articles, internal blogs; experience of working with news and trade media and capable of developing positive relationships with key news reporters and trade journalists; working in an oil and gas environment would be preferred.
Possession of a relevant professional qualifications would be desirable.
Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential.
