The Role: Based in Stonehouse, Gloucester
Our client has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for the design of Mechanical components of a particular products throughout its development cycle including concept, feasibility, development &testing.
You will apply mechanical engineering skills to assist in providing innovative and cost effective solutions for the customers requiring the development of new or improved drilling & measurement products.
The tools are complex they have to operate for periods in excess of 200 hours in extreme environments - high temperature (200 C), extreme pressure (30,000 Psi) and shocks (500 G's) - up to 30,000 ft from the rig, communicating with the surface through various methods.
Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (electrical engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, designers, etc.) to design the system.
You will also perform technical planning for system integration, test and validation, authoring of functional specifications, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
Responsibilities:-
Your responsibilities will include designing complex electro-mechanical devices and associated controls, analyzing product performance/compliance/specification, conducting both lab & field tests, analyzing test results & preparing technical reports.
Interface with the technical staff, customers and field personnel.
The tools used for the conceptualization, analysis, modeling and creation are PTC Creo, ANSYS, MathCad and MATLAB/Simulink.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BEng/MEng or MSc in Aerospace, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualifications)
Able to demonstrate ability in the following areas;
1. Troubleshooting and Failure Analysis aptitude.
2. Mechanical systems assembly/disassembly.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication (English)
4. Capacity to balance technical constraints, cost, lead time, short-term priorities and long-term policies.
5. Skilled in teamwork, service oriented and quality minded.
