The Role:
The Night Drilling Supervisor assists the Senior Drilling Supervisor with all rig-site activities including rig-move, rig-up, drilling, work-over, well evaluation, coiled tubing, testing and abandonment operations. The position provides support and ensures that rig activities are performed in a safe, efficient, technically competent and environmentally responsible manner on a 24 hour basis. The position reports to the Senior Drilling Supervisor.
Tasks include but may not be limited to:
* Actively promotes safe working behaviour.
* Assist with all rig operations as required.
* Communicates with contractors and service companies for preplanning and job scheduling to minimise downtime.
* Ensure compliance with all company standards and environmental programs.
* Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supervising rig operations to minimise down time while maximising safety.
* Assists with daily operations meetings at the rig with key personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
* Ensures that written work instructions for the successful and efficient implementation of the programme are followed.
* Produce accurate daily drilling reports.
* Capture all lessons learned for use in future operations.
* Report any incidents and assist with incident investigation as required.
* Lead safety at the rig-site and actively promote a safe working culture using Company/Contractor safety systems.
* Promote Company Corporate initiatives.
* Ensure all operations are conducted in the best interest of the Company and that local protocols are strictly complied with at all times.
* Review drilling, completion, test programmes with the Senior Drilling Supervisor as required.
* Encourage an atmosphere of teamwork among the rig-site personnel, service providers and other disciplines.
* Assist with technical trouble shooting when problems occur.
* Liaise with Material & Logistics Coordinators to ensure the timely arrival of well equipment and services.
* Assist the Senior Drilling Supervisor with activities at the rig-site to ensure operations conform to plans, and are being carried out safely, efficiently, and economically.
* Evaluate efficiency of operations at the rig-site and propose improvements where needed.
* Report any management of change issues
QUALIFICATIONS/QUALITIES
* Is a Safety Leader
* An Engineering degree
* Must hold a valid Well Control certificate (Supervisor Level 4 - Surface)
* Fluency in written and spoken use of the English language is required, Portuguese would be an advantage
* Excellent written, spoken, communication, presentation and report writing skills are required
* Good understanding of industry normal practices associated with drilling, testing, work-over, wire-line and
completion operations
* Familiar with API & other recognised industry standards & recommended practices
* Team player

* Open and honest; integrity
* Good communicator at all levels, and clear presentation and influencing skills.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of relevant international experience in drilling operations
* Experience of operations in remote / harsh locations with challenging logistical issues
* Land rig experience
* Work experience in Africa is an advantage
* High level of competency with well reporting software
* Experience with wellsite cost tracking
