The Role:
The Senior Well Engineer provides overall engineering support to Well Delivery from the planning office. Roles and Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
* Prepare all well documentation including the Basis for Well Design, Design Documents, Drilling Program, job programs, contingency plans for the well(s) and support AFE creation for which they are responsible
* Specify and select all equipment to meet the well needs in compliance with company standards
* Integrity and compliance of drilling and workover designs and programmes with all applicable legislation and Company polices, standards and procedures
* Provide technical engineering support during operations (e.g. to Field Superintendent).
* Monitor and measure well performance to identify and implement performance improvement initiatives and monitor their effective
* Effective liaison and communication with all applicable parties involved in drilling and workover programmes e.g. peers, subsurface, subcontractors, authorities and partners
* Management of contracts for drilling equipment and service Consultants and monitor their performance including contract management and invoice administration
* Generate and maintain project plans in coordination with the Project Execution Plan and contribute to weekly and monthly reports.
* Preparation of all types of budgetary and AFE cost and time estimates for drilling and workover operations to support both external and internal funding decisions
* Prepare and issue specialist reports on drilling related aspects of operations as required
* Implementation of lessons learnt system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to drilling and workover performance.
* Prepare the final well report and conduct cost variance report for the AFE cost versus actual cost
* Prepare for and coordinate as well as associated workshops and milestone meetings in accordance with Well Delivery Process
* Management of drilling documentation and data
* Develop and mentor trainee and national staff, if required
* Provide duty cover as requested
* Provide input to new drilling standards, procedures, manuals and guidelines in accordance with corporate standards
* Preparation of Scope of Works for Request for Tender documents
* Technical evaluation of submitted Tenders and providing recommendations for contract award
* Preparation of drilling and workover designs, and programmes to meet well objectives
* Integration of sub-surface objectives into drilling and workover designs and programmes
* Research and promotion of innovative and best practice techniques to optimize well construction performance
* Ability to effectively examine events, conduct thorough analysis and propose innovative solutions
* Protection of the Environment, Health and Safety in accordance with Company policies and procedures
* Ensuring that good and open communications are encouraged, promoting a culture of involvement and participation by all parties concerned

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* A BSc / BEng Degree in an Engineering discipline, Master Degree preferred
* Hold a valid relevant Well Control Certificate (Supervisor Level)
* Fluency in written and spoken use of the English language is required
* (Working knowledge of other languages would be an advantage)
* Excellent written, spoken, communication, presentation and report writing skills are required
* A rigorous understanding of Well Engineering technical principles
* Proficient user of Landmark Suite or equivalent well engineering software
* Proficient user of P1 or equivalent probabilistic well cost estimating software
* Extensive petroleum experience (well engineering experience essential, but also knowledge of production, geology, reservoir engineer disciplines desirable)
* Advanced knowledge of industry normal practices associated with drilling, testing, work-over, wire-line and completion operations.
* Operational management experienced in completions, testing and workovers would be an advantage

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience of operations in various environments including; Onshore/offshore: Remote / Harsh locations with challenging logistical issues
* Extensive experience with Land, and offshore MODUs.
* Experience of a wide range of well engineering activities including the planning and executing of different well designs (deviated, horizontal, and multi-lateral)
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience with a Major Oil Company) is an advantage
* Proven track record of consistently delivering well campaigns within Budget, Schedule, SHE and Quality targets.
* Knowledge and experience of running of remote drilling operations, well testing etc.
