The Role:
This is largely a field based position that allows for a field and office interface during the drilling of wells. The role involves being the onsite Geoscience representative and supervising third party personnel providing mud logging, logging, gas detection and coring services. The role also requires sample descriptions, daily and timely reporting, data acquisition and management. The successful candidate will also liaise actively with the Drilling Superintendent and other personnel to ensure a safe and cost effective drilling campaign.

Required Outputs: 
Provide consistent, detailed and clear communication between office and rig
 Ensure the execution of the drilling program in such a manner as to meet the Subsurface objectives and acquire all data in a safe and cost efficient manner.
 Optimize the performance of all geological services at the rig site
 Ensure seamless collaboration with the onsite and office based Well Delivery teams
 Demonstrate high standard of safety awareness and leadership at the well site and project area generally.
 Mentor Junior Geoscientists visiting the rig on an ad-hoc basis
 Under the supervision of the Operations Geologist compile a quality Geological End of Well Report (GEOWR) in standard format

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
15+ years of industry experience is required of which over 10 should be as a Wellsite Geologist
 Mudlogging and petrophysical interpretation experience would also be desirable.
 A minimum degree requirement of a B.Sc. in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science or Petroleum Geology
 MSc or PhD in the same subjects would be desirable
 Onshore drilling experience in shallow marine clastic required
 East African experience preferred
 Awareness of sedimentology and sample description
 Excellent written and spoken English communication required
 Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to support constructive work in close collaboration with other team members, and within multi-discipline teams
 Ability to perform analysis, interpretation and problem solving at all levels of complexity with varying volumes of data is required.
 Ability to work with a geographically dispersed and multi-national and multi-cultural virtual team is required
